Beretta A300 Outlander - Range review - First 100 rounds fired

This is the Max5 model. In this video I will shoot 100 Winchester Universal 7.5 Game and Target loads, and a handful of Federal HI BIRD, high brass, Federal lead and steel target loads.
I shoot some clays by hand tossing and using a hand thrower, and then I field strip to show how dirty it got after 100 rounds.
This is my first semi-auto, so I give my impressions of it coming from a pump gun.

I have this gun. Haven't run too many rounds through it, maybe 500 or so, and I have had zero problems with it. Cleaning is easy, and I clean it about every 100 shots.

Ditch the Winchester target loads. The hulls are too soft and the crimps expand and dont want to eject. Better to use Rem game loads.They are the same price at Walmart. Good video.

Go federal #7.5 for doves. Tried to save a couple of bucks by buying a case of Remington Sure Shot and that was a huge mistake. Shot those cheap Winchesters for clays, but with a pump.

Nak Thanks Nak!! Crow season starts August 1st, so right around the corner. I'm going to break out the shotgun next week and shoot some clays to get ready. I've got an update video planned.....I'll be shooting a few different heavy loads and light loads. And also do an update on the gun. It's been perfect aside from those first two failures to eject. I even shot it at -5*f for an hour and it ran perfect. It was frozen solid pretty much and it still went just fine. :-)

ritesideofthefence 58 Thanks!! Took the gun out yesterday for crows.....it put a pounding on them! Mixed loads....Federal HiBird, Winchester Blind Side, field and target loads.....all ran fine....the gun is awesome!

Thank you! I love the gun. I got shots at 6 crows today with a modified choke but missed all but one. Managed to drill 5 pigeons though just fine with an IC choke. I'll need to go out to the range again and pattern those shells with each choke to see what's what. Then I'll get out on the crows again in a few days with hopefully more success.

Bob O Yeah steel us completely different from lead. Lighter and loses energy faster. Patterns completely different too. Might have to go to a #6 or #4. Here in Indiana we get a lot of education birds so I always use # 5 , 1 1/4 oz lead shot with modified choke to reach out there and slap em. Lol. Our season starts Dec 13. Opening day last year I got 22 from 4 different stands. 8 from first stand. I always change my layout and decoys use every year. Cause the ones you missed from last year will still remember it. Lol

I was hoping to see a closeup of the semiautomatic firing transport system. I want to see how the shells move from the magazine to the chamber. Also, I don’t see why the gun holds three rounds, not five. Is there any danger of a shell hanging in the lower level before it is flipped up toward the chamber? I have seen another case of Winchester shells not ejecting by the way.

Try some Kent fast steel #4 for your crows through the modified choke.

Steve Gebhardt I did a lot better with #6 and even #8 on crows the last few times out. If I get into higher volume shooting next summer I won't be able to afford better than the steel Winchester loads. I have a box of #5 Hexshot that I'd like to try on pigeons hopefully over the weekend.

Bob S I think you'll like it.....I love mine. The pigeons at the farm I shoot at have been increasing in numbers, mostly flying around rather than staying inside. If I had my shotgun last time, I'd have had many shots at them. I have some new pigeon decoys from Soarnomore that I haven't been able to try yet. Next time I go to the farm I'll be able to try them out.....hoping to decoy them in and bag a bunch. :-)

Would up buying the Max 5 like you have. Dick's didn't have the Mossy Oak style that was advertised for $600, but they gave me the Max 5 with the price tag of $799 for $600. Expecting a snow storm here in northern New England tomorrow ,so hopefully can get out on Monday and run some various loads through the gun.

Mike Kuzz you can’t buy to many generic brands for the Outlander A300. They use what’s called a Mobilchoke and tread is fine. I had to buy a extended choke from beretta for mine. I deer hunt with mine and 28-30 inch barrel is what’s common for dog hunting for whitetail because you want to shoot 00 buckshot at least 30yrds with a tight pattern for those deer that cross a field and straight gettin it. So now I am at about 29 inch because all the 2 inch extensions I found was not for mobilechoke systems. I hope my long boring explanation was helpful.🦌

All beretta autos should be run in with heavy loads, personally I start off with 50 3 inch shells in all my autos, never have any issues with jams in the A300 or A400’s

Isaiah Taylor Recoil is soft, especially with field and target loads. If you check my Crow hunting in the cold video , and crow and pigeon hunting compilation video, you'll be able to see from 3rd person view and gun camera view how the recoil is. Isaiah Taylor No, I haven't shot buckshot. I have shot a lot of buckshot in 25 years of police work, with an 870 pump action, and they can be harsh without a recoil pad. But this Beretta being Semiauto with a nice recoil pad, the recoil from buckshot shouldn't even be a worry.
