A world away from our usual reviews of rare and collectable shotguns this week. Here we take a look at a current model Beretta semi automatic, the first time we have reviewed a semi auto here on the ‪@eastfieldgunroom‬ channel.
A very modern version of what is arguably one of the best selling and most popular semi autos available in todays market, the Beretta A400.
We look at the benefits of owning and shooting a gas operated semi auto alongside the practicalities for all kinds of shotgun shooting.

Great review matt I've had my a400 plus now 3 years or more snd put 1000s of carts through it and never jams ,ir cycles 24gram 23/4 shells easy best semi on the market

Not really a semi auto fan but this gun intrigues me. Past the 3 score years + 10 this gun has a definite appeal and reliability seems not to be an issue. Never quite understood just how fastidious you have to be with the gas versions and have therefore always thought the Benelli M2 would be the way to go but then you lose the benefit of reduced recoil🤷‍♂️. Great review Matt.

I had a browning maxus, had to clean the action and piston mechanism every time I used it otherwise it stopped cycling rounds, I couldn’t be bothered doing that every time so I went back to my Miroku over n under

A dealer told me today this was discontinued here in the US due to reliability issues. I've got an A400 12ga extreme, never had an issue. This is the least reliable gun I've ever owned. Loved the way it shot though, didn't love the way it refused to cycle.

Which would you recommend for sporting clays, A400 xcel sporting, A400 xtreme plus or A400 lite amd what length barrel ?

Thank you for your comment. I guess it depends on your stature and frame. Certainly not the Xtreme Plus as this is a wildfowling tool designed specifically for heavier loads. Due to the increased action length I tend to prefer 28" barrelled semi autos. You may find the A400 Lite a bit 'whippy' so for steadiness and pointability I would go A400 Xcel Sporting in 28" (30" if you are tall). I hope this helps. Kind regards, Matthew
