I love this rifle. With the stock folded and with a sling, I can walk around like it's not even there. Love how it breaks down with just a bullet tip needed. Very well engineered. I am not a Beretta fan at all, but I love this rifle. Sight profile kinda sucks but with a dot sight, it is great.
@TheActiveDad816 жыл бұрын
I have to say I really enjoyed your largely unbiased review of the rifle. I own some of these and I can clear up a few points... The military trigger, which you can expect to be heavy, in stock form is exactly what its supposed to be, but what's really nice is when you pull the lower stock off the gun, the trigger assembly comes out with a couple screws, and dissassembles with a couple screws, and it is infinitely simpler to understand, and modify for takeup, reset, and weight than almost any trigger I've seen. Getting it to a 3.5lb crisp trigger with 1mm takeup and 1mm reset made this gun an awesome shooter. I know there are places you can get a complete drop-in aftermarket trigger, but sending it to a knowledgeable gunsmith and having them rework the stock trigger for less than $100 just makes sense. Heat over time I don't think is like the G36, the barrel sleeves are a different material and after pouring 2-3 magazines through the gun, I get the same accuracy on round 100 as I did on round 20, 1-2MOA, which is expected. I believe the test spec they ran is 16 magazines(480 rounds) at full auto is what it will run before the plastic becomes compromised, if you do a meltdown it would be fun to see if you can replicate that. For me, I was looking for the durability and reliability of an AK in a lighter feature rich platform, this gun delivers. I'm nearing 5k rounds of wolf gold and russian 5.56 thru a 5.56 version and have purposely never cleaned it or oiled it, never a jam or a misfire. My complaints are Beretta's support for the aftermarket sucks. I long to get a 300BLK or 7.62x39 barrel for this gun and run it, which they have made for years and is in service in Europe, but still haven't delivered to the US market.

Don't pull the barrel with the bolt locked with the BHO. If it slips with the barrel out, the bolt will slam into the receiver and can damage it. Lock the bolt back with the charging handle - pull the charging handle out at the notch like you're going to switch it to the other side. That locks the bolt and will not drop it until you push the charging handle back into place.
@arcfide6 жыл бұрын
The trigger will break-in a bit. On mine after some time it breaks at around 8 lbs. The ShootingSight trigger will give you a solid two stage trigger that might be more to some shooters' liking. As for durability, MAC's winter test showed the ARX to be pretty reliable in the winter (no hiccups) ice. Heat dissipation seems good on the rifle, but I would love, love, love to see you all melt one down under heavy fire. You can pick them up for around $900 these days, so I think it would totally be worth it to see you all doing an ARX meltdown video. Maybe you can get Beretta to let you do something like that to a real, military ARX-160? :-D An advantage that the ARX has that others don't is the ability to switch overheating barrels quickly. Carrying an extra spare would allow you to swap out not only the barrel, but the gas system on the rifle after a heavy string of full-auto fire. This could keep the gun working and in the fight for a lot longer, but I haven't seen this technique publicly tested.

Beretta is not known for making bad guns, and this is no exception; it's certainly unconventional, which tends to make the more conservative AR-traditionalists leery, but it is a truly innovative design, and it's obvious they spent a lot of time determining what their armed forces would need in a rifle, and in that regard it's fantastic. Unfortunately, they didn't consider that to make it successful in the US market it should've come with grips that could be changed, and maybe used a standard AR trigger pack, and a few other small changes. Interestingly, in one test I saw, they ran mag after mag through it, and it simply did not heat up enough to cause issues. Also, they beat the shit out of it, and it simply didn't break. Just like they threw a Glock out of a helicopter at 100 feet, and it still worked. Regarding the barrel, they make a heavy barrel version, that holds accuracy a lot better; those thin barrels tend to wander, just like the SCAR-L. One last note, I've noticed that when shot by people who LIKE it, it shoots very accurately; with people who don't 'take' to as much, it shoots a lot less accurate; perhaps there's more external influence to it's accuracy than people realize... I notice this guy must've said something like "I went into it not really thinking much of it" about 15 times. AR guys are AR guys, and everything else is lesser...

Well, the main thing about prolonged military use is not the ability to be dropped from a roof and still fire (I probably would not trust an AR that had been dropped from a roof). You're not going to hammer nails with your AR. The main thing of prolonged military use is simply the ability to keep on firing for long. The ARX 160 has a point in requiring practically no lubrication, since the bolt runs on plastic and there is no metal on metal friction, so less gunk forming into the rifle.

Does everything a typical AR will do, but at least the premium you spend for it gets you a more voluminous receiver and an additional digit on the price tag.

the G36 had overheating problems because of bad ammo with thin copper jackets, the problem was further amplified because of the climate in the middle east. The gun was fine after the troops were given better ammunition.

Eric needs to change his glasses, he called about 8-10 "impact" when they were actually misses! LOL

Trigger Happy - yeah I noticed that too..it was really annoying especially when you could see them missing...the the smug look on Chad's face when he thought he'd been getting all hits lol.

7.62 NATO (.308) version is the ARX-200. It already exists, vids out about on the interwebs. Different chassis, they lose the fully modular and ambidextrous nature of the ARX-100. No quick change barrel or charging handle swap from side to side I dont think.

Eric, just saw you on gunnytime w/R Lee Ermey. Shooting the FosTech origin 12. Shotgun. Cool stuff. Good to see you getting some facetime on the networks.
