Here in Sweden we can have 6 rifles for hunting. I have a straight pull modular rifle - Blaser R8 .308win with a Zeiss Victory V8 1.1-8x30 scope. It is like a Swiss Army knife - I put everything from Hornady VMAX 110gr to Norma Oryx 180gr in it and it shoots very accurate. I love it!

Blaser R8s are amazing guns, very versatile, very modular, great factory and aftermarket support. If only they were not that expensive and the DBM model was not that ugly I would go for one of them. Not being Scrooge Mc Duck I went for the Beretta. Is it that nice? No, but I can have a .308 straight pull with a nice DBM and barrel changing capability for less than a third the price of the Blaser. And it can shoot sub MOA all day long.

I’m loving the idea of this rifle. It looks to be truly ambidextrous. Being able to operate the bolt on either side, and the straight pull lets you be able to load rounds from either side is cool. The orange on the mag is a great touch from finding it if dropped as you said as well as the gap at the bottom being an easy identifier showing the mag is still inserted, the caliber change option is nice in theory but i worry of it after the whole cz 600 ordeal. I would like to know the barrel profile as well as how the safety is. Does it have a 3 position that locks the bolt? Maybe I missed you saying it. Lastly to not have a threaded barrel on any modern rifle should be a crime

As long as the bolt is fully engaged, it can never turn out of battery during the firing event. Quite the opposite. The pressure during the firing event locks the bolt in battery, it's only the the movement of the bolt carrier under recoil which could unlock the bolt causing it to open. By that time, the bullet is out & gone & hit the target &, the pressure has dropped to zero in the chamber. I think the way Beretta has locked the bolt carrier when firing is quite ingenious as this system greatly reduces the complexity of the locking system. Although this guy doesn't seem to know that the BRX1 doesn't lock into position at all prior to firing. As has been shown in one video, the bolt can be pulled out of battery without the use of the bolt handle which does not have any mechanism inside the bolt carrier to lock the bolt or the carrier in position. The bolt carrier only locks when the trigger is pulled & a small spring loaded leaver is activated under spring tension behind the carrier & only keeps the carrier from moving rearward under recoil. At any other time, the carrier is free to move accept under certain conditions; eg, when fired or when dropped & this is achieved by a small pendulum leaver mounted in the left side of the stock where the trigger pack housing fits into the stock. It's an ingenious system really whereby Beretta have understood the true physics of what is necessary.
