Here in Sweden we can have 6 rifles for hunting. I have a straight pull modular rifle - Blaser R8 .308win with a Zeiss Victory V8 1.1-8x30 scope. It is like a Swiss Army knife - I put everything from Hornady VMAX 110gr to Norma Oryx 180gr in it and it shoots very accurate. I love it!

Blaser R8s are amazing guns, very versatile, very modular, great factory and aftermarket support. If only they were not that expensive and the DBM model was not that ugly I would go for one of them. Not being Scrooge Mc Duck I went for the Beretta. Is it that nice? No, but I can have a .308 straight pull with a nice DBM and barrel changing capability for less than a third the price of the Blaser. And it can shoot sub MOA all day long.

@@giacomodalmonte318 Very nice! I think modular straight pulls are very versatile and possibly the future of hunting. I say possibly because here it is now legal to buy an AR15 or AR10 type weapon to hunt with. I would be ashamed to come to a hunt with one of those but times change...

@@gambanteinodal1246 In Italy I would probably be laughed at if I showed up to a boar hunt without a semiauto. I must say that most semiauto hunting rifles are an absolute eyesore though and so the ar would be the way to go for me if I did that kind of hunting because it works great and doesn't look as bad as the Benelli Argo. I wish for the comeback of something like the old HK hunting rifles. That's the way of making a hunting semiauto gun.

I think for right handed it would be great for the handle to be on the left so your shooting hand is always on the grip and trigger and your left hand is quickly manipulating the bolt. At least on a bench rest setup.

I’m loving the idea of this rifle. It looks to be truly ambidextrous. Being able to operate the bolt on either side, and the straight pull lets you be able to load rounds from either side is cool. The orange on the mag is a great touch from finding it if dropped as you said as well as the gap at the bottom being an easy identifier showing the mag is still inserted, the caliber change option is nice in theory but i worry of it after the whole cz 600 ordeal. I would like to know the barrel profile as well as how the safety is. Does it have a 3 position that locks the bolt? Maybe I missed you saying it. Lastly to not have a threaded barrel on any modern rifle should be a crime

Interested in how accuracy will hold up with the back of the rail not mounted. I'm shot some slug guns that had a rain mounted to the barrel. The seem to flex a lot. How does the action stay locked if you can just pull back and it comes open? Seems like you could knock the action open walking in the woods.

i shoot one in 300win now for the second season. I removed the rail, cleaned it, put it back together, tourqued it and loctited the screws. never had an issue, run it with an lpvo, more then 500shots down the barrel now and never faced in issue. the system with the 16 lugs work perfect and with the correct oil it’s also pretty smooth even in winter season when it’s far below zero.

I like the gun. On your statement about how interested Americans are on being able to have one gun with multiple barrels I think the answer lies on the price of the conversion. Greed in the companies to charge almost as much for the conversion as just buying a new gun will be the deciding factor.

@rotasaustralis

As long as the bolt is fully engaged, it can never turn out of battery during the firing event. Quite the opposite. The pressure during the firing event locks the bolt in battery, it's only the the movement of the bolt carrier under recoil which could unlock the bolt causing it to open. By that time, the bullet is out & gone & hit the target &, the pressure has dropped to zero in the chamber. I think the way Beretta has locked the bolt carrier when firing is quite ingenious as this system greatly reduces the complexity of the locking system. Although this guy doesn't seem to know that the BRX1 doesn't lock into position at all prior to firing. As has been shown in one video, the bolt can be pulled out of battery without the use of the bolt handle which does not have any mechanism inside the bolt carrier to lock the bolt or the carrier in position. The bolt carrier only locks when the trigger is pulled & a small spring loaded leaver is activated under spring tension behind the carrier & only keeps the carrier from moving rearward under recoil. At any other time, the carrier is free to move accept under certain conditions; eg, when fired or when dropped & this is achieved by a small pendulum leaver mounted in the left side of the stock where the trigger pack housing fits into the stock. It's an ingenious system really whereby Beretta have understood the true physics of what is necessary.

I figured out a few years ago . What takes most a lot longer. 200 yards and in. Is all I need. I'm not Dead Eye Dick. Or Sniper Bob. When you go 200 and in, you can go bigger. And hit better too. Amazing what a little common sense and clean living can do for you...!!! I admit I miss the cross-eyed knife throw. But getting older does help.
