Shooting my new Beretta BRX1 straight pull rifle in .308 paired with the certifiably neat Burris Eliminator IV scope. My first and only Beretta firearm, but it's becoming a quick favorite of mine as quickly as you can run this bolt!
Recording help by my buddy ‪@pcckwy‬ , check him out!

that straight pull sound is music in my ears, planning to get 308 as well since it has less recoil vs 30-06

Oh right! Some bolt actions that might catch your interest: Benelli Lupo and an Antonio Zoli (whichever you want, like the AZ 1900 or the Evolution)

Got the Hubble Telescope on that bad boy. Looks like it uses a rotating bolt head?

Yeah, it's 100000% an AR-15/10 bolt head. I forgot to mention in this video but you can easily switch right hand to left hand operation as well as right to left side ejection but I didn't get around to doing it here

@@PhoenixPhart Problem with that system is that at least in the early versions, it was easy to assemble the bolt wrong, so that while you did have the charging handle on the other side you would also make the rifle slam-fire.

What muzzle break? Is it effective enough? Thanks!

So as the only fella that I know of who owns both a BRX1 and an Impulse, if you had to pick one, what gets the phart of approval?

BRX1 by far. My biggest issue with the Impulse is the accutrigger: too light and it trips the trigger safety if you run the bolt hard (trigger actuated but safety blade keeps the striker from going off, you see it in a couple of my videos where I have to recock the striker), too heavy and it's just a heavy trigger. Really wish Savage wasn't so married to the Accutrigger and just hired Timney or Geissele or literally anyone else to make a trigger for them. I don't intend to be a trigger snob but I've had more problems with the Accutrigger than any other other trigger on the market and a cursory Google search results a lot of others have the same problem The BRX1 has three easily configurable settings: from 2lb, 2.5lb, and 3lb. Running 2lb weight my trigger gauge actually clocks it at around or less than 1lb and has consistently shot off M80 ball, though I had a stuck case in this range session that I didn't get a recording of. Ran great otherwise Bolt runs smoother out of the box, and switching sides for bolt manipulation and/or ejection is far easier too. I'll definitely revisit more of the unusual quirks of this rifle next time I get out there and get some left hand shooting in there too :) Honestly, my Impulse sh*t the bed and I won't shoot it anymore, but I haven't seen anyone else with this problem so I really ought to send it back to Savage for inspection before I make any darning statements on the platform

Great data points, thank you for sharing. I've had great experiences with Savage, and I really want to like the Impulse line. Yet I feel like the base models are just too stinkin heavy for anything other than bench work. Its also hard to get excited when cycling one. They just feel clunky for a straight pull. The BRX1 however seems to be a better choice for a (relatively) affordable straightpull. Smoother, lighter, loadable from the breach, barrel swaps are way easier, and very comparable in price. The context of course being the competition running 3000-4000 on the low end, IF you can even find one. Blaser, Merkel, Strasser, etc. Savage customer service is also fantastic. I'd be quite surprised if they can't sort things out for you in a timely manner.

Great to hear, I'll definitely have to send it in. I agree that the Impulse feels a bit more clunky, especially learning to deal with the rotating bolt handle. Though, actuating the bolt on the BRX1 after firing does take a little more finesse than I thought. I slip a couple times in this video. I see that Savage has introduced a couple more models, nice to see they're really pushing it; I hope Beretta does the same. Wonder if the Impulse Driven Hunter model is the happy middleground for weight and durability? In all, both have the same very neat features but I feel that the BRX1 has a little more thought put into its design, though the Savage Accustock is a nice addition to dial in the cheek weld. I don't think an average user will regret either tbh if they don't experience the same problems I did with the Impulse I still hate the Accutrigger though lol

Sorry for the very late reply, it's a Rugged Suppressors 3 port muzzle brake. I hope to make some videos of it with the can on and off of it one of these days
