When you say firing it like a .357, what about his grip would be better for a 357 as opposed to a 92fs? I'm considering a 92 and just curious

I’ve owned at least one Beretta handgun for over 40 years. Additionally I was issued a 92FS by two different LE agencies. I’ve watched videos on the 92/M4 series on numerous YT channels. In every video the presenter does “chamber checks” or “press checks”. No one seems to know about the loaded chamber indicator on these weapons.

@philharrold3504 21 күн бұрын
@ look on the right side of the slide just behind the chamber with the weapon pointed downrange. If the weapon has a round chambered the indicator will protrude to the right and visibly show red, detectable by sight. In low light conditions it is detectable by touch.

I’m a Beretta junky, I have the A4, XI,APX A1, and a basic M9. I love them all. I bought the XI because it functions similarly to the 1911, that I also have a passion for.

I'm with ya. Including the PX4s as well. There's something about the M9 though. It isn't their best, but there is something about it. The PX4 and the XI are better, granted. But they don't make me grin like my M9 does.

You can get a better purchase on the slide by racking it properly instead of using your two fingers at the rear of the slide. The reason your hands are getting torn up by the stipling is because your grip is too loose and the gun moves in your hand each time you shot. That causes you to change your grip creating shot inconsistencies.

Maybe I'm also a little biased myself, I enjoyed firing the 1911 while in the Army and was issued a 92FS when I started my Security job when I got out. I enjoy taking my 92 to the range for both "fun" and to do my yearly quals. The M9A4 looks nice and I can see how some may like the new additions, but for me, I'll stick with the 92FS.

Jeff, do you know whether Beretta has strengthened the locking block? When I was a competitive shooter (black gun side) in the TXARNG, my issue M9 locked up in the middle of a National Match when the locking block twisted, leaving me with a loaded chamber that I couldn't clear. One of the NGMTU match armorers had to come out to the firing line and unlock the gun with a pin punch and hammer. That particular M9 gave me trouble the whole time I had it; you could put your thumb on the muzzle with the pistol in battery and wobble the barrel all around. The gun would not stay in the V ring of the target we were using and it took me two extra years to earn the remainder of my leg points toward my Distinguished.

For the press check, i was taught to the the old "got your nose". A finger on either side of the slide in front of the safety, and your thumb on the end of the beaver tail, squeeze your thumb towards your palm slightly. The army shooter's corner video is a good one to check out

I watched a short some guy posted of unpacking the M9A4 and I instantly had to have it. The only thing I didn't like about it was I got what some ppl call a California compliant version that only came with 10 round mags. So I went out got the OEM 17 round mags and sold the other ones on Ebay. I was super stoked that it did come with 3 magazines when so many other brands only come with 2. I liked the aggressive grips I took it to the range and put 300 rounds thru it and they seemed to give me better control on the recoil. I got mine from a little Amish gun store here in Cub Run, KY brand new for $950. He didn't have it in the store so he ordered it for me. With the tax if my memory serves me right it still came in at under a grand. The whole gun just oozes sexy and the accuracy is reminiscent of my Army days as an MP. Definitely worth what I paid! 😊

I had a 92fs for about 7-8 years and it was a fine pistol, but I wanted to install an optical sight and have the ability to install a flashlight, so about a year ago I sold the 92fs and bought an M9A4. The trigger needed some work, so I had a gunsmith tune it up a bit, and I find it to be a very reliable and accurate pistol. I like the safety/decocker on the M9 much better than the fs. I put a red dot on the M9, which is fine, but I wish it could-witnessed with the iron sights, so I may change out the iron sights. Jury is still out on that one…

I have both. I also have the 96 in .40S&W. I have taken the right side safety levers off all three so I can carry with a Clipdraw. They just slip into your waistband. The long flat slide is very comfortable against your hip. I always pull the trigger on an empty chamber in double action mode at least twenty times before I use them as CC weapons so I can have some muscle memory of first trigger pull..

It was an interesting video. I don’t own a Beretta and have never shot one. These days I am all striker-fire polymer. Despite all the allegations of the P320 firing without the trigger being pulled, I trust it more than I do a DA/SA semi-auto. I have seen too many people who are either unfamiliar, or worse untrained, with DA/SA semi-autos mishandle them. The most common mishandling is putting it back into their holster without de-cocking first. I have a Sig P229 Elite. In double action it has a long 9.5 lbs. pull and in single action it is 1.5 lbs, that is a significant difference and requires training and practice to handle safely. You talked about the overly aggressive stippling on the M9A4 and how over time that would bother your hand. I am right there with you. I have an AXG grip module on one of my P320s and the LOK Veloce grip panels that are used with the AXG grip module are far too aggressively stippled. I used them on the first day of a three-day tactical pistol course. After nine hours of training with the LOK Veloce grip panels, my hands were sore. I changed out the grip module to a standard Sig P320 grip module for the next two days of training. I love the metal AXG grip module, but I have to find a smoother replacement for the grip panels. You mentioned that Beretta is only offering one optics plate with the M9A4. Glock is only including one plate with their new MOS Glocks. It’s their No. 2 plate that fits the Trijicon RMR. They used to provide four. Fortunately, Vortex included a Glock plate with their Vortex Defender series. Watching you shooting both guns there appears to be some pretty significant muzzle flip. Again, an interesting video and very informative. I learned quite a bit from it.

I prefer the grip shape and angle of the 92FS. It's more comfortable and natural to my hand and wrist. It's more accurate for me, right out of the box. The A4 appears to have a straigher 1911 angle but without the palm swell. That would take getting used to.

I think the reason they didn't include an optics mount was because of the multitude of different footprints available. I believe that the optics-capable 92s come with a coupon that can be redeemed on Beretta's website for a free optics mount with the footprint of your choosing, but I can't confirm because I long since threw away all my paperwork for mine. By the way mine was the 92X Centurion, which cost about $750.

Having many different 92 models it really comes down to what you will use it for and how much you are willing to spend. The 92 compact is about the size of a Glock 19. The Centurion is like a 19x and the full size is like a G17, give or take a little. You can find the 92X Centurion "G" model, if you like a decocker only safety, that is cut for red dot base plates and comes with the extra grips to make it like the 92fs grip size/shape. It is everything the m9a4 is except the threaded barrel and possibly night sights at a lower cost.

I've been carrying the Vertec frame for 24 years. I'm going to choose it every time over a conventional 92/96 frame. I come from a 1911 background so the Vertec is like holding another woman with the same shape. I have both frames across 6 different Berettas so it's the Vertec for me and not necessarily this M9a3 or a4 form. I have that too. Overall you can't go wrong with any Beretta

Maybe it’s just my imagination, but it appears that he is not gripping with his off hand very well. Looks like the weapon is rocking out of his left hand, causing him to adjust or re-establish his grip on each trigger press. My M9 looks almost like the 92FS ..My M9's decocker acts as a safety. It's an olive drab barrel and frame. Black slide. Grips are similar to the 92FS. It doesn't have a rail and it sure ain't optics ready. I guess it's a cerakote finish I'm not sure. All I know it's coming off on the backstrap and trigger guard a little bit. Maybe I payed between 700 & 800 for it brand new. I could check with my FFL he'll have the day I bought it and how much I payed for it. He used to be an A10 test pilot for Fairchild. Put the A10 through the teething phase. He's one cool dude. I've had it for a minute now, couple years or more I guess. Me guns and motorcycles have depleted my vast financial resources.🤣

get a solid grip on the gun, you keep readjusting your grip when you shoot causing inconsistency. your wrists look weak too.

2 dislikes this gun has, first it should have a safety & decocker, 2nd it should have come with the plates for different optics. The n M9a5 must come with these changes & more, a compact version will be great, the M9a5 Centurion 😊

I couldn't agree more! You're going to spend 1,000 lbs on a gun and then you have to buy the plates?!?! Give me a break....

1k is still an awful price for the M9A4, Bereli has them for $850 its where I got mine at a few months ago, they are still on sale on their site for $850 Price aside its a fantastic pistol, you shouldve had a rebate card in the case for a free optics plate when you verify purchase with Beretta.

I bought an M-9/92 FS back in 96. Paid $500.00 for it. I had the slide milled for a red dot and now have a vortex red dot on it. Just bought a threaded barrel for it. Love this pistol. Carried one in military and as a civilian working for the Navy. About the only thing I wish I had was a picatinny rail for accessories. But, I can live without it.

I like beretta just fine, but I’ve always noticed the barrels ALWAYS get super hot, even after just 3 shots. But good guns for sure.

They ruined Beretta m9 with a3 and a4. Looks so weird now. Completely killed classic look and aesthetically pleasing lines. Look at that weird grip angle. I think best Beretta you can get is m9a1
