Thanks for the video. I have just ordered a Tomcat and am eagerly awaiting its arrival! I borrowed my brother-in-law’s Tomcat and took it to the range and loved it! I am a 62y old woman and previously carried the S&W M&P Shield. It is nearly impossible for me to rack the slide on it anymore. I considered replacing it with the S&W EZ - which is really easy to manage, but decided on the Tomcat because of its size and accuracy. I appreciate the info from your video. I especially appreciate that you mentioned the need to break it in before it runs smoothly. 😊

I love shooting and carrying my Tomcat! For a long time I wouldn't carry anything but a larger 9MM, but I found it restricting when I started working at a place that required me to bend over and pick up heavy objects frequently. Fitting in my pocket, and weighing in at around half of what my 9mm does, the Tomcat allows me to carry every single day at work comfortably. No need to throw out the 9mm though. I simply added a light / laser combo to it, and it now functions great as my home defense and outdoors firearm. Adaptation is a useful skill to learn! Like you, I find that many people around me question .32 as a valid self-defense round. I personally opted for the Tomcat over something like the LCP Max though because it wasn't nearly as snappy. Yes, the 380 is more effective ballistically. But if I don't enjoy shooting a gun like the MAX, I will never want to practice with it. If I never practice with it, I'll never get good at shooting it. If I'm not good at shooting it, then why even carry it? The Tomcat does sacrifice some capacity and power, but it allows me to eliminate all those other problems I mentioned. Shot placement to me is what is most important in self-defense anyways. I have most of my Tomcat magazines equipped with Pearce pinky extensions. Maybe you should give one a try. As nice as the Tomcat is to shoot out of the box, adding the extensions has been a game changer at the range for me.

The only issue with the 32 ACP is the possibility of a “rim lock” during an engagement, it renders the gun useless unless you do a mag change. I have heard that European made ammo gives you a better protection against this due to its rim construction. I love and carry my 3032, something about this gun that draws me to it. Great video, thank you.

IMO it is the best semiauto pistol for people who want to carry concealed and cannot handle the recoil of a 380 and/or do not have the hand strength to pull the slide back on an autoloader. When people ask me what they should get for a person with low hand strength and/or very low tolerance for recoil this is the pistol I recommend. The 32 ACP is perfectly capable of self-defense duties even in a small pistol such as the Tomcat as long as the person practices enough to hit the vitals of the target in question. Even FMJ bullets will normally stay inside the target and while hollow points are available most (not all but most) will not be capable of penetrating more than around 6'' of ballistic gel
@johnnyshootsalot
@johnnyshootsalot Жыл бұрын
I agree. A hollow point is actually a worse choice in s short barreled, small caliber handgun.
@oscarbear7498
@oscarbear7498 9 ай бұрын
Plus hollow points are more expensive. A HUGE part of pocket guns is being economical cheaper to give you more rounds to increase your skill /shot placement. Reloading 32 acp is extremely cheap too. You can make 7 rounds for exactly a $1.00 into days crazy ammo shortage. If you have $15 in budget to shoot with that's 105 rounds of High quality low SD ammo, match grade. To shoot cheap unreadable ammo from surplus 9mm , the cheapest you'll see online is 4 bullets for $1. $15 is 60 rounds. I'm currently shopping for a bullet mold for 32acp in 75grn. If I can cast myown I'll be at 14 rounds of a $1 .

My wife has difficulty racking slides. I bought her a Tomcat. It didn't work out. Many of the ejected shells hit her forehead. One landed in her cleavage making her dance around at the range. I snatched the gun from her hand as her muzzle discipline was totally gone. I ended up giving her a S&W Mod 36 (Chief's Special) which she was happy with.

Got mine 5 years ago. LNIB For $250. Love it. Encourage me to buy a Beretta model 81. .32acp is nothing to scofflaw. Everyone at the range wanted to hate it. My nephew named it the Noisy Cricket. Another guy shot a card sized group. Said he couldn't have kept on paper with wife's LCP. CAN'T always carry 1911,security six or N frames.

Ive been studying this gun religiously for a 2 weeks now, and an highly impressed compared to everything on the market for edc. The covert tomcat has a 2.9inch barrel vs the normal inox one without a treaded barrel of 2.4. You may ask what does half an inch do? Well according to balistics by the inch it adds 10ft/lb of energy more( or 45 ft/sec on a 71 grn bullet) This is actually very nice because it should give you an extra 10ft/lb of safe moving up the recommended from 130ft/lb to 140ft/lb since the powder explosion is the same and its just barrel increasing energy. you can safely use the underwood +p giving 135 ft/lb. Gel test of said ammo was getting 16 inches of penetration with a 55grn bullet, which is exactly where you want to be. with shooting a 75 grn buffalo bore can get penetration of 17 inches from videos seen. Thats spectacular for the size of gun, ease of shooting, accuracy. Pretty much exactly what you need and nothing more. With very cheap reloading gear, i calculated you can reload for $0.15 a pop. That's very cheap and buffalo bore's bulllet are for sell too, so you can make your own buffalo bore ammo. A magazine of 7 rounds would cost $1 . Ive tested 22lr on living skulls to dispatch , the energy im getting from a 16 inch barrel was 120 ft/,lb. The tomcat is getting that in a compact size. I find it to be the perfect farm gun, for snakes, slaughtering goats, rabbits, birds, and even self defense. Since getting a 4 inch group at 7 yards isnt hard to simulate a head shot. Cooking at 125 ft/lb of energy will crack skull and immediately kill. Ladding 3 headshots @ 7 yards in 3 seconds is very doable. Beyond 7 yards ive never had an issue 100% of the time in my life a human treat was spitting distance, if i can spit that far its in proximity of treat, further is where things simmir down or in non fight mode. My main concern is speed, quick draw, shooting 1 hand, and Conceal ability... with utility being nice to slaughter goats too on the side. 9mm and 380 at the size of a tomcat are absolutely garbage to shoot, way too snappy, terrible in your hand, and just awful to shoot so you won't practice. Having a gun that is fun to shoot that will increases your range time and skill is alway a factor. I have guns in my vault i haven't shot in ovet 5 years because they suck or ammo is so expensive with non existent rifle primers. Why i told myself my next gun purchase would use small primers since you can still find. Adding a suppressor to the tomcat is a new thing i want to try, shooting without ear pro would be just amazing if soft enough

The Tomcat is a remarkable gun. Flip up the barrel and put in a 32 cal. bullet, and with a double action trigger, you are ready to shoot. The trigger on the first shot is greater than 10 pounds but.... Pull back the hammer on the first shot, and the trigger becomes less than 3 pounds. So, you have 8 shots. Use hollow nose ammo and that bullet (when hitting something) makes a pretty big hole.

Thanks for the video and the truth! I have had this pistol for some time now. A great pocket pistol. I painted the front sightpost brightly, which helps. This gun is inaccurate, even on a wrist rest. I have a shooting buddy who has a brand-new Tomcat and we both had a tough time with accuracy at 7 yards! We also tried different ammo. I still love the gun for a pocket pistol, but it is definitely for close-up work only. What is your experience?

Since the 32acp is a centerfire cartridge, I'm not nearly as concerned about ammo reliability as I am with the bobcat in 22lr. And also, since 32acp is relatively hard to come by, I've been using whatever I can get my hands on. Federal and PMC have functioned well for me so far, as well as Aguila. (I'm a big fan of Aguila in a wide variety of calibers, and their 32 is no different.) All have been FMJ "target" rounds. I don't think I will bother with a hollow point in this gun, as I can't imagine it generating nearly enough velocity for a bullet to expand properly.

Love the 3032. Think it's one of the best pocket guns ever invented... and there really isn't anything else that compares. I think DA/SA is the best action for self defense, but you just don't see DA/SA pocket guns anywhere else. Taurus came up with the PT-22 and PT-25, but they're DAO and they don't really compare (although they're not bad guns since they fixed the magazine issues). The only thing I really don't like about them is the thick slide on the newer produced models. They made the slide thicker to stop the frames from cracking with the heavier 72gr ammo... but it did Nothing to fix the problem. Now they just continue to sell them with thicker slides for no reason... and the thicker slides suck. They're just too thick. When my father got his new 3032 to replace the one he sold, he disliked the thick slide so much that we ended up ordering an older used slide to replace the thick slide to make it more comfortable to carry. If you do worry about the frame cracking issue yourself, I believe that shooting ammo that's 71gr and under is safe, but for some reason the 72gr ammo seems to be the cause for most cases.

Did you know that Beretta has a 3032 Alley Cat model? I think it just has night sights to it. Never saw one in store anywhere. Though I have seen the Bobcat and Tomcat used. If Beretta made a 3.5" Tomcat like the Beretta Model 70 that would be good. Quite a few people used .32 in warfare. Particularly the Germans. Think it was an Officer's pistol. Walther PP series.
