This time we actually review the Bergara B-14 HMR. This is a sweet-shooting rifle. This is chambered in a 6.5 Creedmoor, topped with a Leupold Vx-3i 6.5-20x50mm CDS Target. We think this is the best introduction Precision rifle you can get for under $1,000.

I think the Bergara is my favorite rifle. I own other rifles but none offer the same exceptional value proposition that the Bergara does. I just wish someone had introduced me to those rifles when I started shooting. It would have saved me a bunch of money!

Nice video, elk calling sounds awesome. Hopefully I'll do that one of these falls, my dream hunt prettymuch. Ohio don't got nothing but deer and turkey to hunt. However I do whitetail and mule deer in SD. I take my Bergaras out there, I've now got 3 HMRs, wilderness in 300 prc, B14 in 308 and a HMR paramount muzzleloader

100 yards is a great range to wring out a rifle. It eliminates much of shooter error and concentrates on the rifle. I have a Savage 12FV in 6.5 Creedmoor, 1/2 -3/8 moa is normal when testing loads with a Vortex 6x24x50 on top. I know how to dope the wind and after 30 years shooting National Match if I'm shooting 1.5moa at 300 yards I know I better settle down. The Bergara B-14 Heavy Barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor is my next purchase. For the price point I've found them a better rifle than the Tikka's.

Shooting both the Hornady 75 gr HPBT out to 700 yards . This is using my B14 HMR .22-250 with a 9” twist barrel. Shoots into 3/4” most of the time. Once in a while I get lucky with a 1/2” group but that’s just lucky. For coyotes, I use the Hornady 55 gr VMax booolit. It exits at 3100 fps. Life is Good!!

There is a weird phenomenon going on with bergaras. The vast majority of people using them sounds very satisfied, often reporting custom rifle like accuracy. But on several forums sometimes a few "influent" guys pop up and literally start throwing s..t to bergara, with a lot of hanger and committment, getting even to say that these rifles are so bad that they would never own or work on one or even use parts for builds. To me it seems that these guys are actively trying to bash Bergara, maybe on the payroll of someone who could benefit from this. Emotional involvement in defending something we like is understandable, emotional involvement and committment in bashing a brand is more difficult to undestand if there is not some interest on the table. It wouldn't be the first time anyway

They are accurate rifles, but they seem to have minor issues that plague them. I joined a couple of Bergara groups after buying mine in 6mm CM. Extractor failures, bolt shroud failures, and pierced primers are common. I pulled mine out of service until I can replace the trigger as I am not a fan of the design and view it as unsafe. However I probably won't shoot it until I have time and money to send the bolt off to get the firing pin hole bushed, in an attempt to mitigate two other common issues.

@@timcouch2037 I purchased my rifle through Scheels (awesome customer service), they paid to send my rifle to Bergara to have it inspected and fixed. I'm assuming it went to their facility in Georgia that produces Bergara's more premium rifles. I should have taken measurements before sending it in to compare to the new bolt, but hindsight is 20/20. Are you having a similar issue?

Which means what ever yardage your bullet meets the 1200 pounds of energy that’s where you stop at.

There is a certain "Pride win Ownership" of a Bergara. But..... I called Bergara to clarify a few points. Here’s what I learned from a fellow reflecting a “So what?” attitude. Bergara claims “Remington pattern ” with their B14 series rifles. That applies only to the receiver . If you want to make changes, such as a 3rd party bottom metal, you can’t. Everything other than the receiver is proprietary to Bergara! The other source of confusion is “AICS Pattern” magazines. AICS “pattern” magazines is about the design, not the length. You’re ok with the short actions. But with long actions, Bergara may hose you with the magazine. One might expect 300 Win Mag in an HMR “match” rifle, to have a match length magazine like the typical AICS 3.850. You would be wrong! The HMR uses Pmags regular AICS pattern Long Action magazine, which has an approximate 3.53” max length. In other words, the long actions use more than one length magazine. Depending on your intentions with a “Match” rifle, the short magazine could become a severe handicap. And no. Bergara will not sell you a replacement bottom metal. Don’t drink the koolaid! Do your homework before you buy!!
