Alexei, This is another great video. I always learn something important about yachts from your vids. Displacement is one of those specs that people don’t understand so they blow by it. In one of your previous videos you mentioned that hybrid propulsion was just a bridge technology and that nuclear will most likely replace it. Can you update us on where that development stands with regard to yacht construction.

I will like to know why aren’t you considering using AZIPODS or similar. They are great in managing and most importantly it saves 20% in fuel consumption vs a straight shaft ?
@MPatagonia5 ай бұрын
It also becomes a fully diesel electric vessel with a proper ion lithium batteries can use a generator for half of the cruising time
@Wifyish5 ай бұрын
I think the answer is reliability? Straight shafts with the skeg makes the propeller very protected and requires less service probably. But I've thought the same, at least a full hybrid system where the propellers are run by electric motors surely would be more efficient. Would be very interesting with an official reply to see their own thinking

Azipods require a much deeper draft than a traditional engine shaft propeller design. So you can't just go anywhere with Azipods vs traditional drive systems. So they aren't for every boat design.

Here is an ignorant question for the builder, why choose dinghy storage at top floor and not behind deck like other manufacturers, is it to keep it safe away from large waves in a storm while crossing? Is it extra work by storing on the top and maybe safety risk with possible injury's while operating crane lowering or storing Dinghy? Is it design and negative foot print by extending the lower platform to accommodate dinghy?

It’s a slow displacement vessel. In following seas it can flow over the swim platform. Alexei explained this in the earlier video they did on the 77.

My question is more tuned to stability during crossings in various sea states. How would those variances be on each of these models? To me I think the 78 would be more coastal transiting and 77 and 82 would be great for coastal and open ocean transit, maybe you would observe less pitch and roll in all all sea types from the 77 and 82.
@GroppeljohannKlotenkempe-vr6oh5 ай бұрын
Regarding pitch I would guess it‘s just the other way around. 78 will be the smoothest because the hull is more able to go into the ways. The classic trawler hulls are pitching like hobby horses. For me that would be unbearable

QUESTION: The forward look where the keel and stem meet at the waterline is excellent. Is there a particular name for that design? A 'forward keel,' perhaps? That completes the design for me. Also, an Explorer solid blacked out interior pilothouse and muted exterior colors. One day, my friends.

Questions about the 77. In another video if I remember correctly Alexei was talking about the hull shape of the 77. It was specially designed to meet certain conditions. If I look at the other two in the model lineup (65 and 72) the hull is very different. Was the 77 started out as a oneof and later added to the lineup? Why not create a 77 as the 72 and now modernised 65? And put the current 77 in a “Custom” category?
@edikamandrake74074 ай бұрын
A few points they could have discussed. Marinas charge based on LOA, so of the three yachts, the 78 is paying the same as the other two and therefore a "worse" value. Not sure how important this is to owners of this class of yacht after spending so much on the purchase price 🙂 Second point is to compare the annual operating cost of the three yachts. Does the 10% of purchase price apply? If say the 77 and 82 have similar engines, then I don't think the extra GT of the 82 will imply increased ownership costs until someone wants to completely retrofit the yacht and strip out all of the floors etc.
@paulszudzik95884 ай бұрын
As usual, another informative video, without sounding pretentious! Well done. However, I do have a question about your usage of your Bering. When you intend to charter it, do you use the Master Suite for yourself or do you charter that suite out? So would you then have more spacious crew quarters if you used the master for yourself? So that lowers the amount of guests for the charter, right? Just very curious. Perhaps this has been answered, but I missed it. A great video for the future would be how you would run the charter of this boat.
@Navy19774 ай бұрын
This is the Bering channel so I'm not sure you'll get an answer. Victoria and Rico designed their yacht to have the owner operator suite on the bridge level. The guests accommodations are all on the lower level. Hope that answers your questions.

The gross tonnage and displacement are the most significant factors with regards to the handling and operation of any boat. A first time owner operator should consider that when purchasing a boat. Generally speaking, the less gross tonnage and displacement yachts require less horsepower and a smaller keel. They are much easier to operate in shallow waters. I learned how to handle different displacements working on push boats on the Mississippi River. You learn the difference in handling pretty quick when you hook up to a 200 foot barge with a 40 foot draft in a serious river current!

Bering 78 is where the entire *"Expedition Yacht Performance"* is at and not just for Yachts either as this type of plumb bow in sailing meets the motor yacht World has been in the works for a long time in sailing but is brand new for Boating and now yachting tho not as new as most think #turbina still this one hull shape I don't think most understand just how this much is changing both Boating (Axopar) and Yachting (Bering and many others) as this hull can create enormous range, speed and performance not typical of motor yachts ever before...or any Yacht before actually. They are actually known for very poor sea keeping which is why not until now being seen but this is being changed by having what I think are called *"reverse chines"* in the hull to push the water away instead of over which is why plumb bows not seen until now. Since most common sea state is dead calm the ability to "slice through" as opposed to "Bob Through" obvious to any working in upon this hull form. Not only can you get to where you want to go say crossing the Atlantic Ocean at incredible speed but there are manifest sea keeping aspects both in leaving Port, handling itself well at arriving/porting and then moving around in places not normative for a Super Yacht mainly tho not exclusive the Caribbean. And again very efficient which has obvious advantages when both underway and under its own power which is pretty much all the time in the latter case but also when taking on a large load which most would presume need full displacement for that which is definitely not wrong but plumb bow does add space depending on the design and engineering so in the World of *"time is money"* (when isn't this the case?) definitely a development I have been following for a long time so yes interesting to hear what is said here.😮😮😮😊😊
