The yoik belongs to Inger Johanne Oskal, who also appears in the video that's shot by a river flood in Kautokeino. Plot: Ingers' fish hook is stuck in a tree. Can she rescue it? Actually, I believe that the natives of America and Northern Europe are related. They have similar genetic markers, which goes to support the theory that Native Americans came from northern Europe during the last ice age when the two continents were united by ice.

I find it very annoying that almost every sami/joik video/song I click on, is accompanied with these terrible new-age synthesizers (native american music has that too)... Why can't they just make traditional music (like this one), without the zooming sounds and slow beats of a synth??? Grrr

I AGREE so much, I can't believe anyone thinks that tampering with the traditional sounds is a good idea :o this sounds so pure, exactly as it would have been for thousands of years
