Classic French move: Advance French interest, and call it European interest, as if he could fool anybody.

@@sdsdsdsdssff4422 yes. but it is actually a diplomatic failure in that case. If you repeat again and again "This is European interest", and you overoptimize it to your own interest, while not taking into consideration the interest of influential others, you just don't get a deal. If France was more competent, and looked into solutions that also benefit the others, they would get more out of this actually, because the default is: Maximalist French position: No deal, they get nothing. Position that is mutually beneficial: Deal, they at least get that. So France is a diplomatic lame duck on these matters in the EU, because they act like they were the ones in charge, only to repeatedly notice they actually aren't, others don't just do something because France says it is good. Then the French get upset about this. Then repeat. And this has continued for many many years.

France is the only country with nuclear energy and nuclear weapons, with its own military industry. Its other countries that should align on France, since it the main character.

Classic British move: fail to realise that ALL countries OBVIOUSLY compete for their national interests in Europe, and instead of doing so for the UK behave like a spoilt crybaby shouting "it's not fair!" in a tantrum Brexit that leaves the UK worse off for the next several generations

Is it normal for a French president to speak in English instead of French - there's no translator? The German president speaks German, all the other presidents speak in their own language - why does he speak in English?
@SP95

Presidents speaking foreign languages is not something new. President Putin speaks German when he is in Germany for instance. Giorgia Meloni speaks four languages and will use them during state visits.

Not destructive at all, simply a fact. There are multiple great powers now, not just USA dominating everyone. US hegemony is destructive. Now in the multipolar world countries have different options and more freedom to choose different partners.
