😂 I missed this whole controversy! Then between recording my recap and editing the footage, I saw all the backlash on Instagram lol. Whoops!

Hey man congrats on your achievement! I'm here from your previous vid in which you discussed Daniels 2Q. I'm considering picking the 2Q for my next spring Marathon. I am a bit skeptical though because a) Those two Qs are monster sessions not so much in terms of mileage but in terms of stress to your body. Especially the one mid week... and b) I miss the build up to 20 mile long runs which makes me not very confident. What's your take after your Marathon? Would you recommend the 2Q?

Great questions! I think my primary concern would be your current weekly mileage, that's where I struggled the most. I trimmed down the mid-week workout significantly to manage the higher stress. That being said, I really liked the workouts, the pace breakdowns felt very manageable and kept the long runs a lot more interesting than the traditional "just go run 12 miles." I just struggled to find the time to fit in such high volume. I was nervous not running a full 20 miler before the marathon, but after an injury in training, I only ended up making it to 15, and I did fine on race days. I had enough experience from past marathons to give me the confidence I'd normally get from a 20 miler in training. Overall, I loved the variety in workouts in the 2Q, but the volume was a bit high for me to manage. I'll probably continue to use an adapted version of the 2Q plan that fits those workouts into a plan that better fits my schedule/training volume 👍

Aiming for a 3:45 Berlin marathon this autumn on a the 2Q plan as well. Hopefully 4th time lucky trying to run sub 4! 4:02:08, 4:00:44 and 4:09:43 in the past. All poorly finished with terrible calf cramps (despite working on hydration and electrolytes). As a relatively new runner, I think over the marathon distance, I just didnt have enough endurance in the legs. Hoping the Q workouts will prepare me more. Did 8 weeks of 4 week plan from the book to get used to running about 35 miles per week. Excited to see if the Q runs pay off.

I really liked the structure of the workout but that weekly mileage is no joke! I've also found increased focus on strength training has helped me avoid cramping later in races. Berlin is the perfect course for a PR attempt though! Good luck!

@@iRunOnBeer Thanks. Out of interest, what max weekly mileage did you choose with a 3:30 goal in mind initially?

@@RunwithKush My initial plan was to max out around 40-45mpw for this plan before I got injured. My actual marathon PB is 3:37 on a pretty hill course, and my max weekly mileage was only 35.

Congrats on a well executed race! Nice to have that much left in the tank for the last 10K. 😀

Playing catchup on this series but found an earlier video about your 18 month plan. You mentioned increasing Vdot. I think on another video you mentioned you got hurt but did your vdot increase through the 18 month plan?

I increased my paces at the 6 week mark to match a VDOT increase of 1. The increase in paces felt totally controlled.
