This is an anti-dote to GAS sufferers who drown in gear, but can't squeeze a half-decent musical track out of all their stuff. Restrictions.. simplicity, definitely helps to produce better music.

The microbrute is such a sick instrument. People who shrug it off as a toy are honestly just lazy and don't care to put in the work to get the sound inside of the thing OUT. absolutely loving these sounds man. Obviously limited in comparison to more expensive synths but this video just shows what an amazing studio tool this synth can be.

“And now let’s put it all together” could you do a video on that part? I am curious what this looks like in your multitrack setup...is it four (or so?) continuous audio tracks? Or do you record say 1 measure of the bass then copy paste a hundred times through the song? And the buzzy / noises sounds...same question, juts an 8 bar buzzy sweep dropped in or is that its own continuous track?

To me, it really doesn't matter if you're using small, inexpensive gear or a big pricey modular Moog or similar equipment to recreate that Berlin School style. It's how you do it and how effective the results are. Not everyone has the dough to afford a modular Moog but many more can afford a MicroBrute, Monotribe, and Monotron Delay. Norwegian electronic act Breidablik (Morten Birkeland Nielsen is the man behind this act) manage to create Berlin School style music on small, inexpensive portable gear. You can find out about Breidablik on Bandcamp. The music blew me away and the guy knows his stuff.

Awesome. Not just because you did it on the microbrute but even more so because the composition really again has some classic tangerine dream style. It's not kitsch but a few chilling themes that provoke fantasies in the listeners mind and some athmosphere. TD would have added some percussion sounds probably but the core is there. Oh and of course the track rather would be 30 minutes long than just 5 ;-)

So having the MicroBrute and the Monotron, is that all you need for this set-up? There's no hidden Midi machine you have to plug everything into or an Audio Interface, I'm just learning about how these machines work. I'm from London and went to all the free Rave parties and festivals in late 80's early 90's, last festival there was Castlemorton. It's just amazing to see how the music back then was made. IMO nothing now compares to the music that was made back then.
@SynthManiaDotCom7 жыл бұрын
This is all you need to play it. If you want to record it to the computer, you can use the computer's built-in audio card, but yes, you might want to consider buying an audio interface for added functionalities.

clumsy Wiki says: The Arturia MiniBrute is a monophonic, pure analog synthesizer designed and manufactured by Arturia, a French synthesizer software and hardware company. Monophonic means one note at a time. If you hear 4, 5 or 6 notes (tones) there must be sth more. Logic. Or you get 4 Microbrutes, Or you use multiple synths Or you record and mix sygnals one by one. So the picture is only mono synt and delay. Bth I like the music SynthMania, greetings and thanks!

Marco Ossidiana may I make a suggestion? Search for the videos, "intro to synthesis" by NY School of Synthesis, and take the time to watch all 3 parts. It's 3 hours of old school weirdness, but afterwards you'll have a much better understanding of synthesis and how to make the sounds you want.

Ross, all you need is a couple of simple 1/4" to 1/8" mono audio cables (or a small adapter with 1/4" female and 1/8" male if you alread have a standard 1/4" to 1/4" instrument cable), for example, like this: media.sweetwater.com/api/i/q-82__ha-3d7f7949e01e16bd__hmac-45def56e909b4660984df87fb832785623c7bb4a/images/items/750/CMP305-large.jpg

Solved. Connect the brute master-out to monotron aux-in (with jack to mini-jack adapter) and monotron phone-out to audiocard input (with mini-jack to jack adapter). I don't know if the best solution but it seems to works.... Hope is the same solution you wrote me. Thank you very much (Sorry for my english.).
