This isn't Klaus Schulze style, this is an entire new style and sometimes seems like a modern development of the classic KS sound from the 70s. He once said in an interview he is sad people only focussed on the drum-based music like techno and didn't develop Berlin School further after the 70s and mid-80s ended. This is probably what he envisioned. Great music!

shreknos Oh yeah, analogue synth buying if you are not prudent, or mindful of your finances can make a crack addiction seem like a trip to starbucks for coffee, however buying musical gear is more socially acceptable than drug consumption.

I have been intrigued by synths ever since hearing my dad play Kraftwerk in the 70s. A year ago I got a synthstation49, but still longed for real knobs and sliders to play with. So I got a microbrute and am just starting to play with it.. Your music is so inspiring. Thank you so much for this.

Man, it's always the simplest melodies that are the most pleasant. I find myself building tracks up so much and being dissatisfied. I need to force myself to work within a limit. It's almost a meditation. So much more space within a single track.

I feel the same way. I start riffing on the guitar and it sounds nice. A little more details and it becomes better and ok. Then I start trying too many thing that always take me out from that point it was great and it ruins it.

Sounds just like Klauss Schultz, He probably spent the equivalent of $300,000 in equipment. You, $300 on the micro-brute!!! LOL
@philipclayberg4928

There was nothing like the Micro-Brute in the 1970s. Almost everything was analog (except Yamaha D7, organs, pianos, harpsichords, and Mellotrons). Tuning alone was time-consuming (especially if the temperature where you're playing changed up or down). If you ever get the chance, just ask Jean-Michel Jarre', Klaus Schulze, Chris Franke, Peter Baumann, Suzanne Ciani, etc. how much "fun" it was dealing with the equipment they had in the 1970s. Listen to the first minute or so of "Phaedra" (just the track, not the entire album). Even before the minute is up, the sequencer is going out of tune. The recording of "Stratosfear" (the entire album) was a nightmare. Amazing that Tangerine Dream were able to compose and record the music they released in the 1970s, when they had so many limitations to deal with every single day. Same thing for Klaus Schulze, Jean-MIchel Jarre', Suzanne Ciani, etc.

Trance, flying, escape from reality. Just go on! you do it cool and with special emotions. This is another level of beeing on earth. Better than LSD trips. remembers me also on Schulze, Tangerine, Jean-Michel Jarre. In the old times it was only possible to record tracks by track to get the result like that. Know it becomes much more easyier to do things like that. But the idea counts!! Like it!

This is an absolutely gorgeous piece. I love it. Now, if you want to get a million more hits, elaborate on the exact parameters and settings for how each of those sounds is generated. You have kind of mentioned a simplified version of it but it's not enough to reproduce the sounds for each of the 8 sequences. You see, like a lot of people I ended up on this page in search of how to figure out how to program my MicroBrute. The sounds are beautiful but now I want to know how to make them. In fact, some of the comments below are saying exactly that. Share those and suddenly many others will want to visit the page to learn, and in the process share the link with many more who'd want to just listen! Good job and please do more pieces like this.

+NYC PAUL I only had the Microbrute for a short time before selling it on but in Ableton setting it up as an external instrument and then setting the midi sync parameters in Ableton's preferences did it for me. Only thing to watch out for is that I had two USB devices appear for the Microbrute and you have to chose the less obvious one! Didn't really get the sounds I was looking for and moved onto a DSI Mopho although having listened to this I am inspired :)

Thanks for the info, actually I figured it out,it was a stupid mistake. I plugged the micro in with usb but I never had checked the SYNC tabs. But i did notice something a bit weird: once the micro was synced to abelton, the mb sequencer seemed like it has limited resolution's available and some don't sound exactly that great in sync,let me further explain: the mb locks in sync, now with the mb sequencer running i turn the the rate knob, lets say the mb sequencer is doing 1/4 notes as the knob is turned full left,turning the rate knob a little more will make it play what sounds like triplets and make it sound not so locked up to the tempo of ableton.(it's still synced,but it don't really sound like 100% on beat, & theres not alot of resolutions available,lets say it does 1/4, 1/8t,1/16, 1/32 ?? what about the other resolutions in between the available choices?? It just seemed a little weird. It is possible that it has something to do with the settings that are in the mb connection software, problem is my computer is outdated & not compatible with the software so i can't load it to make adjustments. The software does have some settings that can be adjusted.

David Martin Davies David speaks the truth. The Microbrute is an unbeatable deal for a first synth. It has that wonderful patch bay, along with the built in sequencer to help you make Berlin School stuff. It would help you to read a bit on synthesis as well.
