This is THE go-to for the non-legato strings parts that need fullness, but layered with CSS or Vista & Strings FX libraries like Espressivo or Colours Adaptive Runs to fill in the gaps for the best strings sandwich!

Can you tell how do hey actually deal with repetiive short but non-staccato notes (i mean short bow change legato)? Something like tremolo but with precise lenght of each note. It's a big problem for almost every string library.

Thanks so much for this. I wish you would have played the viola and cello in their lowest octave since that's where so much of their playing happens. Is the agile legato the fastest available? It doesn't sound like it can handle runs, but it sounds great for quick phrasing. That molto vibrato is absolutely lovely.

Great video, as always! I've been trying Berlin Strings and Metropolis Ark 1 lately and I noticed that the spiccato patches on both libraries sound a little bit out of time, even though I am programing them right on the grid. The problem goes away when I use the same MIDI with a Spitfire Audio Spiccato patch, for example. Have ever run into this problem? Any idea how to fix it?

Hi, it's probably because Spitfire and Orchestral Tools do not have the same negative track delay. Check on the net, you should find the good values to set in your DAW

Thanks for the review. No info on mic positions. Were you using just tree mics for all articulations? The spiccato articulation seems somewhat 'blurry' to my ears, I wonder if adding closer mics would add more definition?

Thanks for watching John! I appreciate the feedback. This is indeed the sound out of the box. Adding the close mics definitely add some definition.

@@ChristopherSiu For what i write i find that using the close mic positions dominantly and then have a bit of the AB at a lower volume to give more of a stereo image. However with the 1st violins i use the close and concert master mic positions and hard pan them to the left and right so create a stereo image, and also having a really tight and small sound. From what i've heard as far as the acoustics from a lot of recording stages it has a much smaller and tight sound which i tend to like a lot more. Good examples of this are the recording stages for the star wars films. It doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of reverb, or at least not a lot of decay.

I never get why these companies insist on only allowing their software to run on the full version of Kontakt. Smart marketing will tell you that you lose custom by doing this. If they were truly serious about selling their product to a universal market they would find a way to make the product accessible to everyone, it isn't like they don't make enough money to invest in programming a sample player themselves.
