Fifty years ago, before I headed in the academic direction, I spent ten years as a sheet metal worker, mostly on big construction jobs, but also a good amount of time in the shop doing layout work. As a front-end baby boomer, that gave me a wonderful opportunity to work with the WW2 generation--most of the men being war veterans. To a man they would have been utterly befuddled to hear that someone had gained a world-wider reputation because he believed that there is truth and falsehood, right and wrong, good and bad...and that it took courage for him to say so in the college environment. They would have employed the f-word in a variety of creative ways to describe the absurdity of such a scenario, and avowed how they'd always said that college was for pointy heads. They're all gone now--have been for some time--and I'll follow them before too long. But I must say, looking back with my doctorate, they had more right in their thinking that most people today. *Mini-debate on the Patriarchy:* ...from a comment on a Jordan Peterson video on apes, with Richard Wrangham. Me: Patriarchy is obviously an adaptation of biology. Very natural. Anya Wale: It is the opposite of biology and totally unnatural. This is why you have never heard of Father Nature. Me: All human societies are a genetic deal between men and women. Humans are naturally gynocentric, like all mammals. Meaning: Women and children are the center of life in humans. But Camille Paglia the feminist once said: "If it were up to women, we'd still be living in grass huts." By this she meant the male role is supportive to the female, men compete for women, protect women and children. Nature is feminine because nature is life and reproduction. But if there is no social role for men, there is no incentive for men to cooperate in women's survival. That's the root of Patriarchy. But, I rely on evidence: For about 200,000 years, there have been many tens of thousands of tribes, cultures, of all races and religions. Of all those human variations, 99.99% of the time, the society was basically Patriarchal, or some version of it. That's what survives. Only twice were societies Matriarchal, in my memory. Matriarchy is a failure. The delusion feminists have is that it is some sort of oppressive thing to women. It can be, but it should not be. In fact it's the opposite, or should be. Catch up to reality. The Bible understood this thousands of years ago. Genesis 3:16 Me: I predict our culture will collapse, as we gave up on Patriarchy.

Naah....Berlinski is far more intelligent than Peterson, and far more sophisticated orator and much more immersed into real philosophy as opposed to Peterson who is a public amuser. I mean if you read and listen to how Berlinski reasons and approaches topics, it is obvious we're dealing with far more serious thinker than Peterson can ever be. Now, it clear that Belinski is impressed with reaction Peterson gets, and the fact Peterson rose to the fame by attacking some radical changes of modern society, and protecting Christian tradition. I completely disagree that Peterson is anything more than relatively amusing clown who dabbles in confusing, foggy waters, and appears, to the uneducated masses as a serious thinker
