Superb, thank you so much for sharing. A shame they didn't have a bigger audience, but looks like it could have been one of the first concerts at the end of COVID. We're all giving you a standing ovation digitally.

What a wonderful gift from the hr-Sinfonieorchester! Top-class performance that comes with beautiful 4K video with excellent camera work and smooth highly defined Opus 251 audio extending up to 20kHz. I got goosebumps at the beginning of the second movement. Un Bal. Thank you Frankfurt Radio, Maestro Altinoglu, hr-Sinfonieorchester, the camera crew and of course the tonmeisters.

I don’t play an instrument and I can’t read music but i have loved classical music since I was 11. I adore this piece… I love the eerie creepy violin playing at the end - spiccato??? - the way the strings play that eerie dance before the brass comes in to conclude the work! Just wonderful 👏

If ever proof was needed that this is Germany's greatest orchestra, one needs go no further than this absolutely wonderful, wonderful performance. Never have I heard Berlioz' brilliant use of the orchestra better displayed than here, played by an orchestra of virtuoso musicians and led by a conductor who has obviously spent much time in studying the score - the orchestra is totally with him for every minute of the performance. While giving the credits, the technical engineering must not be overlooked. Brilliantly sharp images at 4k resolution support the thoughtful camera work and video direction (although I'm not sure why the 1st movement opens and closes with shots of the organ pipes when that instrument isn't used in the score). The high resolution audio captures every nuance of the playing - from the immaculate solo work in the woodwinds (the piccolo never dominates!), and from the quietist whisper, to the massive power of the full orchestra (complete with extended brass and percussion), this 4k audio will really push your sound system to its limits if you try it. In summary - this Berlioz work, which I love, is given new life in a performance that stands out from all of the competition. Thank you. [NB. I use the term "4k" loosely. While using 1080p. I mean both audio and video are delivered at more that 4k bps (in fact, nearly 5kbps). Many KZbin performances use closer to 1kbps, giving poorer image and sound.]

The beautiful and mighty organ pipes are magnificent, the best I ever seen. So they can be used as a signature of the concert hall, it seems.
@bryangl12 жыл бұрын
@@zack_120 Unfortunately the "look" of the display organ pipes are no indication of the size or quality of the instrument. While the number of pipes will usually be in the thousands,, the pipes on display may be dummies - there for appearance as most organ pipes arn't pretty. At the same time, metal* pipes are expensive so what you see here are probably real. I've heard little of this instrument, but what I heard sounded fine. and, at a guess, I would expect 2,000 to 3,000 pipes. But the size is absolutely no indication of quality. [*Organ pipes can be made from all sorts of things. Wooden pipes are common, not to ease the budget, but because of the sound they prooduce.]
