Yes i truly had a great childhood in Bermondsey! But now it has become the new Chinatown,especialy near Canada Water! Chinese and Koreans are the majority buying as much property as they can.They have the cash,not locals on average pay that need around £50000 deposits or more! But i will always say what a great place it was,i am 60 this year but remember my childhood here like it was yesterday! Great times👍👍👍 I fear that maybe within 20 years max that apart from social housing,the area of Bermondsey and Rotherhithe will be populated by well off residents that have no connection with the previous generations. That makes me genuinely sad but it will change forever,this is my belief.

Lived here all my life,still love it now. But the sad thing is Bermondsey has become over run with rich outsiders,very sad! And by the way,East St market featured here was not part of Bermondsey!,Bermondsey is north of the Old Kent Rd!. When i was a teenager in the 70s we never went past the Thomas A Becket pub,it was considered a foreign land,lol! So for those that do not know Bermondsey was north of the old kent road up to the river to Tooley Street and Jamaica Rd going east to Surrey Quays.(Surrey Docks). Anywhere else to me as a teenager in the 70s was alien territory.
