The cleansing of real locals continues,nothing has changed. I still live in Bermondsey but REAL locals have virtually gone with my parents generation. The area is now full of rich outsiders!!. Very sad really!!. My dad would not believe what has become of his beloved Bermondsey!!☹ The labour party started the big sell off allowing the LDDC to do what it wanted and allow the redevelopment of council estates for private sale and rents!!

Most of old Bermondsey went to Bexleyheath or Welling following the great replacement and cleansing of it's people.

Depressing listening to this, knowing what's happening to Bermondsey

I love this song. I lived in Major Road [now destroyed to permit the building of the Underground] and in Kirby Estate in Southwark Park Rd. Kirby Estate was under the Council when I lived there. The flat I lived in was recently on sale for 350,000 GBP !!! Bermondsey and Rotherhithe have now been gentrified. It might be an improvement but I miss the old Bermondsey.

Gentrification continues! My dad would not believe what has happened to his beloved Bermondsey. The price of property you mentioned,thats cheap! 2 bed flat near Lower Rd sold last year for £650,000. What chances have REAL locals got??NONE! Very,very,sad.

We know more now! The ordinary folk in our beloved country know more now. Great. Hooray for us. Don’t latch onto yesterdays. Move on and seize what is important to us. Working class rules.

Why is it called ‘the Blue’? As in the song...
@christinemo96223 жыл бұрын
The pub just past the railway arch in Southwark Park Rd was called The Blue Anchor.
