Thanks for your service. I have newer Easy Turf Bermuda sod - supposed to have no Tifway in it. Thus is 2 year old sod and looks very spotty. Some brown deadish areas. Some really thin areas. Gets lots of water. I m in Scottsdale AZ /Memorial Day high 90*'s /100* . Here's what I have done so far: March pre season fertilizer, 4/15 Weed & Feed, 5/7 Weed & Feed. This is coming around well in some areas but others it's dissapointing. What can I do now with the heat? - thanks for your time. P.S. I did not pay much attention t it last year.

Hello BYD, Thank you for all the informative videos. You're gonna be my guy this year for transforming my bermuda lawn that i bought along with my first home last year. The previous owner neglected the lawn pretty badly. There is Poa annua and broadleaf all over the front and backyard. I've followed your steps for spraying weedstop and spot treating the poa with image 3 weeks ago. I just scalped my backyard to 1.5" and front to 2" since it was so high before. I applied Lesco PreM (no prodiamine avail. locally). My next step is to scalp to 1" all over in 2 weeks. I have these ugly patches of, what looks like. very thick dormant or dead stolons rooted into the dirt. Hopefully I will get those with the next scalp. My question is, if they do not come up with the next scalp, should i pull these up or leave them? Also, when can should I stop bagging my clippings?
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral2 жыл бұрын
If you currently have weeds then bag and always bag if scalping. The BermudaGrass will eventually fill in those bare spots over time but I’d put some sand there in those bare spots

Hi Bermuda Grass Central! I need some advice... My backyard lawn is hideous, it is about 2000 square feet and i am getting quotes of about $3,500 to fix it up. I am big on DIY so i figure I would just do it myself and save some cash. now my question is... We are in mid may here in Georgia and I am not sure if it is too late to grow bermuda grass or zoysia? I plan to kill the grass wait 2 weeks, spray fungus control, wait 2 weeks, tiller the soil, then throw down seeds. would this be a good process? how would you go about starting up fresh and the steps that you would take? your advice is truly appreciated!
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral6 жыл бұрын
not sure how bad it is but id try to save what i got first. but if you are going to do that then make sure its not raining like it is now because the seeds will wash away. light watering to damp without this crazy rain for best results. a soil test will help also.
@CriticalErA6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it was about 95% weed and 5% grass so i went ahead and just dethatched, rototilled, pulled out a ton of crabgrass and other weeds then added topsoil and threw down seeds. i do see a few puddles of where water accumulated on the right side of my lawn. I am wondering if i should fill those in with more top soil? and lay down more seeds? rain has not been an issue up here in kennesaw/acworth but i did leave the sprinklers on in 4 hour intervals which created the puddles over night.

Had a trash grass lawn last year. In March 2018 I scalped as low as I could with a mower and tilled top 3-4 inches. Spread Riviera Bermuda seed that has started to come up along with some crabgrass and other weeds. Bermuda is 1.5 inches in some places and 1/4-1/2 inches in other places. Is it too early to do some sort of weed and feed on newly planted Bermuda? Any help would be appreciated.
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral6 жыл бұрын
Tj Guidry rule of thumb is to cut or apply any thing at 2 inches. But after 10 weeks and most of Grass is over 1.5 then you can treat, wait a few days to cut and bag. You may loose a few but this is Bermuda grass👍🏾

Dan Stephensen here’s the scientific answer, yes it’s to late because what’s germinated in you Lawn now the Prodiamine won’t help, dithiopyr has post Emergent but it’s primarily to catch baby 🦀 grass. Here’s the other answer, if the temps are below 80 then you could for piece of mind but may be a waste of money. If you do add it you need to water in that same day. I’m not a fan of adding extra stress on a lawn though so deep into spring, hope this helps 👍🏾

Pandit Grewal one way is to hand remove, but that may take forever, the other way is to cut the treat with a product that contains 2-4D ( Spectracide, Bayer ) any of those store bought hose end or bottle to spot treat. Let grass grow a little higher in those areas to crowed them out. With this you get them under control.

@@fernandoaguilar8979 when your lawn goes dormant leave it alone. About the 1st of March scalp it as low as you can go. Rake up all of the thatch... Put down some pre-emergent. If you have a really tough weed like Crabgrass from hell LOL spray it with quinclorac I mean soak every leaf on that weed wait about 2 weeks start overseeding with Bermuda and throw in the nitrogen down it will come back super thick and green. The key is to put that weed killer and pre-emergent down super heavy... Then wait at least 2 weeks maybe three to make sure you got all the weeds gone. Then don't forget to overseed heavily and water as you would a new lawn. A good fertilizer to put down just before throwing your seed is Scott's new lawn fertilizer. Bermuda you can let grow to your highest setting on your mower... If it's 4 in tall The Roots will be equally as deep period. If you want your grass shorter wait a week take an inch off wait another week take another inch off slowly work it down to the height you want and keep it there

THIS MEANS GREAT COLOR WITH MINIMUM GROWTH FOR LESS CUTTING.**** BE VERY CAREFUL WITH IRONITE AND USE "ONLY" AS DIRECTED. TOO MUCH IRONITE COULD TURN YOUR GRASS GRAY OR EVEN BLACK. DON'T HAVE TO BE AS CAREFUL WITH MILORGONITE(ORGANIC).

I think Mowing is #1, Watering is #2.. Treat with Pre-Emergent (spring & fall) is #3, Fertilize #4 (organic is better). If you cant afford the last 2. Just mowing 2 times a week and watering (volume not time, 1 inch a week) you will have lawn better than 70% of your neighbors. If you do all 4, you will rule your neighbors. I mow my lawn ever 2 days. Mow-Rest-Mow. at worst case Mow-Rest-Rest-Mow. If your mowing and cutting more than 1/3 off at a time your hurting more than your helping.. If you let your grass grow to 1.5" there is more leaf surface to recover the stress of cutting in the 100F temps.. So in the later summer let it grow just a tad longer than in spring.
