I've been using a mix of peat moss, gypsum, miracle grow 'in yard' garden soil and compost to try and revive the choked out bermuda areas. In my backyard, used to be bermuda sod, when we moved in 20 years ago....but a native oak had been blocking sun all these years and stifled that part of the bermuda. Planning to make a nice shade garden there for hammocks 😊. The last of the POA is dying out, and I've got my prodiamine ready to go for future treatments. Thanks for all you do, BYD. Of course, buying everything on sale and keeping in garage until I'm ready to go!

I have a Bermuda lawn it’s about 90% but I have centipede in a spot that’s about 10ft round, How can I get rid of the centipede grass and get my Bermuda grass to fill in over it? I would like to say Thank You for you knowledge and your videos!!!
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral5 жыл бұрын
Eb Compton real life solution that may work is to wait for the Bermuda to go dormant then treat the centipede with Glyphosate. I’m not a fan of the procedure but it seems to work on stuff like that. I’d do in Fall instead of spring so when spring does come you can see how affective it was.

MrPanthers23 there’s no real answer for that, if price was no issue I’d try them all, other than that a mix of this and that or what ever you seem to get the best results with. The shape of your property could also affect the mix. Example ( a sloppier scape may need more sand to resist erosion) 👍🏾

BYD, I topdressed and overseeded my front yard 4 weeks ago, and a heavy rain washed almost all of it away 3 days after ...did you cut the yard low before you topdressed, do you water it in? ? Maybe letting it grow a little longer would have held the top dressing? Thank you for the vid.
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral5 жыл бұрын
Big Mitt I cut the day before I top dressed, I water 💦 lightly to keep from washing away. I used my small mower to cut the top dress part because I want it to still look neat. If you’ve over seeded you may cut less often but those seeds need to get sunlight so no more than 2 inches in those spots. But if you overseed you’ll need to water 💦 lightly 2 or 3 times a day until those seeds germinate or a strong rain washes it away 😃

Also, my desire is to have it at 2", can the common Bermuda achieve that? Do I need to kill my lawn and plant a Hybrid? If you say I do I will kill the lawn and re-plant and I am not kidding :)
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral4 жыл бұрын
Michael Broussard the only hybrid seed I know is called Arden, really expensive ‼️, the back back of my lawn near the woods is common I sowed myself. The hybrid is sod Tifway 419. The hybrid dose have better advantages though. That’s a decision you’ll have to make. Way the cost vs want you want. 🤷🏾♂️

Fast forward to next spring and we will drop 419 sod. You the man, thank you for your help. Have a blessed day.
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral4 жыл бұрын
Michael Broussard not sure. Could be the type of fertilizer your using. Maybe you need to add chelated iron to the mix. I will say it’s to tall. I’d try HOC of 2-3 inches next season. 🤷🏾♂️

@@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Good call, I Amazoned that bad boy, will be here Friday, sounds like exactly what I need too, with a month to play around before I overseed with Rye, I am going to add the iron and cut to 3" and see if it greens up a bit. I am currently running "The Andersons" 16-4-8 and have previously used "Milorganite" which I really liked, and before that I got a hold of some Turkey poop stuff that was really great but it stained my concrete so I cant run that. I am absolutely not following the application guidelines, it just doesn't seem like enough How important is it to follow what they recommend? My lawn is just above 500 sq.ft, potenially 750 sqft next year and they are recommending like 2lbs for the Andersons, just doesn't seem like enough. Thanks again for the tips, I called a company that sells the 419 sod and got a quote and its in my wheel house so I am pumped for next season.
