A couple of thoughts. First - this is amazing. Second - I firmly believe this will be a valuable historical look back in years to come at one of the many stories of how we were affected by this pandemic. I came for the costuming...I did not expect to be floored by the interviews. You are truly an advocate for some folks that I admit I've always taken for granted. Very well done. And you are coming into your own as a filmmaker - this is a masterpiece. Thank you for giving voice to this industry, and the people who bring these visions to life. Did anyone else appreciate the beauty of Bernadette using that ancient sewing machine that has been used by so many people in the past that is still is such wonderful working order? It works exactly how it was designed to all those years ago and continues to function well. So many machines are expensive and also will break relatively quickly.

This was one of the coolest freakin videos I've ever seen. I'm so sad about the situation of the costume industry and I turned my adblock off to help a little. I'm also asking for a spencer pattern for Christmas because they are so cool!

Wish they would make a pattern for the Schuyler sisters' dresses!

Well the patterns are certainly made, it's only a matter of time for if or when they will be released. I think they said this was the first published garment pattern, so there may be more to come!

I have always been fascinated by history in general but also by the fashion within certain historical periods and have always wanted to make historical costumes. It wasn't until after I found your channel that I began to feel more confident in my hand sewing abilities. I consider myself a very novice student of sewing and needed help with hand sewing techniques a curiosity that lead to your channel Bernadette. I also have difficulty sleeping and use ASMR videos to help me sleep. You succeeded in fulfilling both my needs of sewing info and "unintentional asmr". The sound of your antique sewing machine, the sound of the needle piercing the fabric and the soft, pillowy sound of the thread being pulled through said fabric was so relaxing! Your voice Bernadette, in itself is asmr and I am asking for you to PLEASE start a side channel for sewing asmr with soft(er) spoken and whispered pattern reading and lots, and lots of thread pulling??? Please, please? TIA

Bernadette, I am a 75 year old retired bachelor. I discovered you a few years back. I decided when I retired I wanted to learn how to sew. The idea was to learn how to create a custom men’s pant pattern specifically for me. Something that I could use to create pants from any material I wanted and they would fit and drape perfectly. I watch videos and read books. I found you could take measurements and using a ruler and paper create a perfect custom pattern. Being a retired computer programmer and nerd I thought this is right down my alley. I learned how to do zippers, waistbands, pockets and all the other pieces. I tried and tried and like so many other things I have tried since retiring found it is harder than it looks. Nothing would fit. After a year I lost interest, gave up and moved on. I just wanted to tell you that I adore you, your mannerisms, the way you speak, the whole package. I still haven’t figured out how you earn a living. That apartment you live in can’t be cheap. You said you used to work on Broadway. Now no one is. Regards Jim
