Bernard is great. I never knew of him. I saw his dad on tv once in the nineties and he was great then he passed. Bernard should have been promoted as a top guitarist he is a monster.

i hear a lot of srv inspired licks but with a hendrix mood and blended together with a Bernard touch...this was nice... I'm curious to see what he sounds like when his musical influences aren't so easily detected and he shines more as Bernard Allison.. it is a cover though. so awesome
@MichaelCrutcher10 жыл бұрын
I don't think those are SRV-inspired as much as Jimi-inspired. This is totally a Jimi tribute.

This is very good. Because Bernard stays and play it cool. Not too much fast notes or try`s too hard. The son of Luther is awesome !!

Der Bernie war eine ganze Woche in unserer WG zu Besuch, vor seiner Deutschlandtour, kannte wohl die Chefin, boah das war Anfang 90. Seine einzigen deutschen Worte waren : Sauerkraut and Beer.

The way that Stevie Ray Vaughn did Voodoo Child is more reachable for many guitarist players....it is a lot easier to do the tune the way Stevie Ray did it than to try to match all the mind-blowing stuff that Hendrix did on the original track on his "Electric Ladyland" album. That being said, doing the tune in Stevie Ray Vaughn's fashion is not a bad thing.....to put it in context, everybody does "All Along the Watchtower" like Jimi Hendrix did, not like Bob Dylan originally did.
@jupitermoongauge40552 жыл бұрын
I think you're right, except that neither Jimi or Stevie's way is "easy" I've never heard anyone else other than Randy Hansen come close to their versions in terms of intensity and artistry

Sorry man, I didn't mean that Stevie upped Jimi on the song....nobody can do that. Jimi did everything possible on guitar on that one jam. Jimi's original version of Voodoo Child is still in my opinion the greatest guitar jam of all time. I was referring to the fact Stevie Ray made Voodoo Child more accessible to a lot of guitar players because of the way he did the tune.....and I agree with you completely on your assessment of Jimi's version of "All Along the Watchtower".
