Bernard Butler & McAlmont - you do

With all this interest in Duffy at the moment its forced me to dig out some of my Bernard Butler videos .
Duffy related as ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler is her song writer and producer as well as being a fantastic guitarist .
His songs always managed to bring out the best in Mc Almonts voice in thier partnership after he left Suede and they do the same for Duffy .
Im also a great lover of Phil Spector and Roy Wood style of "wall of Sound" productions and Bernard Butler seems to be able to always pull it off and remind me of that stuff.

Butler is one of those guitarists that influences me, inspite of the fact i only have the first two Suede albums. He has this carefully crafted style where he writes counter melodies to what the bass and vocals are doing that just fits, when it shouldn't!

Gorgeous. Of course, the song was shortened for commercial reasons, but the full-length version on the their 1997 album was perfect. Never mind. I've got the CD for that!

easy - amazon have both their CDs. Try BB's own pair of CDs - a little less immediate but some great songs there as well

yeah right - she wrote the lyrics/melody and he didn't? He is credited as co-writer, which given the relative quality of music and lyrics on the Duffy tracks meant she wrote the lyrics (appalling at times) and he wrote the music (sublime at times, especially on Distant Dreamer). Duffy is cowriter on all songs, but I just wonder what her contribution was, with BB and people like Steve Brooker
