The story about the ducks being his guardian angels beginning at 3:59 is incredible. What a great player Bernard King was - and what a cool guy. I'm old enough to remember the "Ernie and Bernie Show" at Tennessee. And Bernard's kid brother, Albert - he was alright too!

Overlooked fact: Bernard was Patrick Ewings' most talented teammate. Although they were teammates in Ewings' rookie year, they never played 1 minute on the court together. King was rehabbing from the injury he discussed in the video...& he made it back for the last 6 games of that season, but ironically, Ewing gets injured, misses those last 6 games. The Knicks don't resign Bernard & Bernard goes on to have 2 more All-Star seasons with the Nets. How differently King & Ewings' careers could have been if the Knicks resigned Bernard 😢

He was an unstoppable, sadly people forget how great he was. I remember the NY vs. Boston, I should say the highlights. very few games were televised. Remember the NBA finals were taped delays before Magic and Bird, they saved the NBA.

If this guy had not torn up his knee- he would be talked about lot more than he is. Saw this guy go through Texas and average 50+ points in Dallas, SA and then Houston. I do not think ANY other NBA player has done that since.

Only 1 man ever scored 50 average, and that's Wilt. Nobody else ever averaged 40.
