I love how Catch wrestling techniques are more and more conquering BJJ arenas. 20 years ago, BJJ players looked down upon my Rolling Toeholds as gimmicks (even though I finished black belts easily with it most of the time, due to their complete lack of understanding of leg locks). Nowadays we have premier BJJ players vowing to leg locks as necessary tool to progress your submission wrestling. Great synthesis.
@H4I2I2EE5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if it existed even before BJJ in Japan cuz it's almost exactly what you do with the joints on the arm/hands. Look at ude garami, for example.

He's a character but also a very nice guy. I have seen him reply with patience to some really stupid and provocative comments on here. God help you if you manage to make Dean lose his temper. He's totally correct about the leg locks. We don't train them where I am and I know a leg locker would sub me in seconds and cripple me in a street fight ( not that I am planning on street fighting of course ).

Thats the new school game. Guys have different styles but the theme is blocking the other leg. 50/50, oshi and those things would often lead to scrambles and losing the position. Dean lister was very ahead of his time and kind of paved the way for modern leglockers. I remember his DVD's. It's cool seeing his opinion on leglocking and his thought process.
