Eine großartige Interpretation! Absolut mustergültig! Hervorragende Registrierung, Phrasierung. Wunderbar! Vielen Dank für diese schöne Einspielung!

I first heard this in Charleston, S. C. when Heinz Wunderlich played it from memory on Reger’s 100th birthday. Have loved ever since. Thanks for this wonderful performance.

Genial gespielt!!

Had to listen to this wonderful performance by *Bernhard Schneider* , again.

With reference to *pedal technique* alone, this Chorale-Fantasie has to be the *most difficult, even grueling,* of them all. Yet superbly done by Mr Schneider! He makes it all seem quite effortless -- the hallmark of a great musician. Even though it's not my favorite of the set -- I'll take "Hallelujah Gott zu Loben" and the "Wachet Auf" -- it is undeniably a monumental work; demanding the full resources of an accomplished organist. And the '60s-era Klais organ handles every demand made upon it with aplomb. *A huge, enthusiastic "Bravo!"* 👍👏

Share your preference for 'Wachet auf' and 'Halleluja...' / Nr. 3 of my favorites is 'Freu dich sehr...' op. 30 among Reger's Choral Fantasies.

Impeccable performance of a magnificent organ choral. Thanks for sharing this rendition with us.

Needs an exceptional organist (and an exceptional organ) to make the most of Reger's extremism (pppp to ffff) over a prolonged period - this performance did it!

Thank you Herr Schneider for this stunning performance. This has always been one of my favorite works of all time. Thanks to KZbin, there are many "solid" performances out there but this one is far and away the best I've heard. In particular, I appreciate the elegant musicality of the triplet variation, the transitions between triple and duple time can be musically awkward but your handling is flawless and elegant. Thank you also for giving good emphasis to the crushing deceptive cadence (C-flat ) in the fugue, too often players barrel through the chord thoughtlessly. I confess my favorite performance of this work has always been the Virgil Fox recording (Boston Symphony Hall, 1968)(NOT the Chicago Auditorium, 1971) but yours is the first I've heard that surpasses it in musicality and understanding of the work.

A monumental piece, very well done! This is only the second recording of it I've heard - the first was Virgil Fox, and if you haven't heard that one I recommend it. Virgil's registrations are unmatched, in my opinion.

Can't seem to find any Reger played by Virgil Fox on KZbin. Would you mind sharing with me where I can find such recordings? Cheers

Someone once joked (I'm not sure they were kidding;)!) Reger would have been better off printing his music on black paper with a few white spaces! The sheer number of notes is beyond mind-blowing! I agree with the late Dr. Robert Noehren's comment on a The Art of the Organist program with Dr. James Moeser (chair of the KU organ department) on KANU FM during the 1976 Reger birth centennial year, that in some respects Reger's music can be played with greater clarity and more powerful effect on Baroque than Romantic organs, of course depending on the resources. I wonder how many extant Baroque organs there were in Reger's day for him to experience their brilliance, linear clarity and power.
@noiselesspatient5 жыл бұрын
No, you just need a good German Romantic organ.
@robertgift6762 Жыл бұрын
Ha. Manyears ago I said Reger started out with black paper and used whiteout. No, baroque organs are not enough foReger. Needs powerful 32’ reeds and Principals.

@berniboy64912 жыл бұрын
