and FYI losers, is NOT the government job to take care of lazy people, FYI the miniwage is NOT a living wage is for high schoolers, or students who go to college and then go to a part time job, or people just entering the work place, you morons don't understand economics idiots.
@doodelay
@doodelay 7 жыл бұрын
Mclovinthedank that isn't true. The minimum wage was created in 1938 by FDR because employers were literally giving their workers pennies an hour. He created the minimum wage to help stop the abuse. He also created overtime pay and the 8 hour work day at this time because employers would work their employees like slaves; hiring an entire factory staff composed almost exclusively of children because labor was cheap, and then switching to women after children were banned. You don't know the history of labor in this country and that's what paints your inaccurate views of what the minimum wage is all about. You should also know that the the minimum wage does not exist for high schoolers, as 89% of all MW workers are over 20 according to the department of labor. The history of labor is the history of unions, before and after their existence.

1. I'm not a "loser"; I studied hard and work hard, and make a good wage, and I want a society where there aren't working people who are still losers. 2. FDR explicitly introduced the minimum wage as a minimum *living* wage (docs.fdrlibrary.marist.edu/odnirast.html). 3. The minimum wage isn't about lazy people -- by it's very nature, it's about paying for work, often work no one else wants to do. 4. Minimum wage work doesn't currently pay nearly enough to cover college costs -- all it does is take away from studying, which *should* be the job of the college student. 5. We understand economics well enough -- business leaders want to pay as little as possible and get as much as they can, and we fight against that in order to have a dignified existence even if it's digging ditches for a minimum, living, wage. 6. We also understand that dog-eat-dog societies are ugly. We don't want that.

He got over the Hillary-throw-over with ease and in fact, grace. He DID NOT spend time bemoaning the loss of the democratic ticket. He said we need to just move on and no sense in crying over spilled milk. I don't know what you're after here but chill out. He behaves like an adult compared to...almost everyone in Washington at this point.

I stand by my statement. You've got your own problems--wherever you are. As for Trump, I didn't vote for him, and 3 million more people voted for Clinton than for him. We won't even get into the sabotage of Bernie in the primaries by the DNC. Ok, so what's there to "laugh" at? I see all sorts of problems in other countries on the news, but if there is an unfortunate situation, my first response isn't laughter. I find it...strange.

I have to agree. I do research on candidates and look at what they do, and not just what they say. Our current PEOTUS showed up on my radar when he started his birther nonsense in the 2012 election. So when he announced his candidacy in 2015 I already knew to look out for him. As he went on he showed that not only was he horrifically underqualified but he would lie far more than most politicians and when caught, just kept telling it. He could play a crowd and stoked anger and had dangerous ideas. This whole last election cycle was like watching a disaster in slow motion. With the better candidates on either side being bumped off and one of the worst (possibly THE worst) candidate winning. We are not even a month into 2017 and already the house, cabinet members, and PEOTUS are trying to bypass background checks, gut ethics commitees, and challenging nepotism/emoluments laws. They are basically flaunting their corruption in the open now. While I have been happily surprised by average citizens putting pressure on government, and stopping the gutting of the Office of Congressional Ethics, we need more. There are still too many who can't see through the smoke, are distracted, or in denial. And we need them to wake up and step up yesterday, because things only get worse after Jan.20.

Laura Vargas you must be expert because you abuse the system yourself . Your opinion isn't fact. Corporate welfare exceeds the so called fraud youre talking about. It is is not white or black issue because any and every race abuses the system . You should be concerned about the corporate welfare queens . But you're mad about a person with a $100 food stamps. Instead the billions the banks and Wall Street receive 😂

+Laura Vargas If more money were put into education and healthcare, people wouldn't need the welfare system as much. I believe if more people felt like they had a future they wouldn't feel the need to exploit the system either. You have a very naive look on things, but you obviously see that it works in finland (and the rest of scandinavia) so there is no reason that it wouldn't work in the US also, since you do have more then enough capital for it.

Nibbles McMeow~ I am from Colorado, but have been stuck in Nebraska since being diagnosed with MS 14 years ago (lower cost of living for a fixed monthly income). I wrote in Bernie Sanders on my ballot in small town of less than 1000 ppl. and it wasn't even reported in the count. I realized it wouldn't make a difference in such a Red state, but to not even have the Bernie write-ins reported on is despicable. I know I wasn't the only one in Nebraska to write in his name!

Didn't you check Bernie's plan? He wanted to increased taxes mostly on those who earned above a certain (high) cap and the social programs which would have been funded with the money (like single payer) would have given back more than what they spent to the poor and working people, what republicans fail to realize is that taxes can be used to improve society too.

I'm of the belief the majority of the Democratic Party or alt least key members have been bought out, and what is left led by Bernie Sanders is fought against or held back by these very same"Democrats". A majority of the mainstream media have had gag orders and now it's done some journalists are now able to criticize. and Republican's will always be republicans largely catering to the rich/powerful, 1%, Religious Right (Christian anyway) and ultra conservatives. we may as well have George Bush and all his cabinet members come back , because I can't see the difference between this current administration and his.

Left or right, how can you not like this man? He is one of the few honest congressmen we have. He refuses corporate money. He refuses to talk with anyone that's a lobbyist...his records show he is the lowest paid senator in the US. So glad we have him.

I'd just like to say that I think Bernie Sanders actually cares about the American people. All Hillary Clinton cared about was winning. I mean, Bernie was out of the race months ago, but he continues to fight for what he thinks is important. His passion is clear in every word he says, and the work he does for America is something I'm truly grateful for. Hillary, however, is off in the woods somewhere. I wish that in our government, we had more people like Bernie. He thinks before speaking, and not only prevents himself from saying something offensive, but simply doesn't agree with opinions that are offensive. I really believe that he wants the best for ALL of America, and although I'm sad to not see him as our president, I'm glad that he continues to stand up for America.
