The fact is, we live in a profit based global economy, run by the few. This is an economy that isn't designed to care about providing everyone's basic needs, or preserving our planet If it was, we wouldn't still be using fossil fuels, when we have much much much better alternatives in energies like solar or geothermal We have the technology to preserve our earth's limited resources, and create an abundance using efficient, sustainable, and renewable methods. We need to focus on that. Is capitalism so great that it leaves over a billion people starving on this planet? When do we truly evolve our consciousness as the one true family we all are, and take care of life?

3:58 Companies very much are people. Corporations, however, are Companies that have entered into a contract with the government to get certain benefits of limited liability. So its fine to have stipulations in a contract, such as a corporation providing all levels of healthcare to all employees regardless of the owner's religious views. Cause the company can say, "No, we'll structure ourselves another way."

1:10 _Tax the rich to pay for social programs_ …but doesn’t the way the federal government work today (fiat/digital money) make this idea of- _”tax at the top if we are going to have enough money to spend on education/infrastructure/etc.”_ -a misnomer now? Isn’t it more like “taxing the rich to reduce power differential between rich and poor?” Doesn’t the Federal government destroy money through taxes as a way to keep currency valuable/control inflation/direct demand? Seems what we need to do is to direct a bit of investment away from defense spending (~700B/year) and into public infrastructure/ education/ healthcare/ family subsidy/ collective ownership, into giving a safety net and accountability to the left behind and working class people who built this world.

Buying other's patents "rather than" developing one's own in their own labs and resources is _still a way of investing in development._ What a dumb thinking to not see that, it's the kind of thinking that concludes that a car manufacturer should produce in site the food for their employers lunch, otherwise it's not really investing on it.

The battles and large spending by big tech companies over fighting patent lawsuits is a consequence of the faulty position of the US Patent and Trademark Office holding that software ideas are patentable. That never used to be. Ideas were not patentable, even if written down in language such as a computer programming language. Only tangible inventions were patentable. That changed, so now companies sue other companies who come up with similar software methods even when independently innovated. The only protection is to have a big portfolio of patents that were created in the infancy of a new industry, like cell phone technology or online purchasing, so your company can hammer the opposing company with dueling patent lawsuits and come to some settlement with cross-licensing. This is a boon to the lawyers, a drain on our economy, and a burden on the companies that truly innovate. We all pay the price which is embedded in the services and products we buy.

Google should be paying me to use these things I guess. And forget about making a Google business account. $5 a month?! I agree with what the guy says on alot of topics but when it comes to lumping all tech companies like Google in, that shows a lack of knowledge of the market. The area of tech that needs to be broken up is the internet providers. Let's get last mile un-bundling for example.

Capitalism is not the problem, the problem is (in part) people that do not know how to achieve on their own, to get ahead honestly. Strong work ethic, strong family, trumps laying around and taking government handouts. Expect nothing from the government, earn it yourself. People that need a model to follow, need to avoid, drug dealers, thieves, and haters. Model those folks with a can do, positive attitude, that promote all people, that foster honesty, and forward thinking. Folks that live in the past ,carry the baggage, and pass it on to no success. Everyday in The United States there are people beating the funk of life and making a mark for the betterment of themselves and those that they promote. The last thing the U.S.A. needs is more big government control. Bernie offers what cannot be achieved. His models are not valid for the USA.Winston Churchill once noted, "The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."Capitalism encourages entrepreneurship while socialism discourages it: A government in a capitalist economy can quite easily give everyone equality of opportunity with a few basic laws and regulations, but socialism strives to create equality of results. This should frighten people who value their freedom .Capitalism produces more economic growth: Capitalism produces considerably more economic growth than socialism and as John Kennedy said, "A rising tide lifts all boats." A fast growing economy produces more jobs, more wealth and helps everyone. Many people assume that capitalism isn't working if there are still poor people, but that misses the point. In many parts of the world, poverty means living in a hut with a dirt floor while in America, most poor Americans have TVs, refrigerators and cell phones. The rich may take home a larger share of the pie in capitalism, but the poor also benefit tremendously from living in a growing, thriving economy.
