I lived on 56 street in New York in the 90s, I live right down the street from the soup nazi, he was only open three months of the year, every day at lunch, a couple hundred people lined up around the corner and down the block to get the soup, so after seeing the Seinfeld episodes, I wanted to walk by and look in at him, he looked exactly like the actor who played him, and he stared me down so hard that I walked away quickly! It was funnier than the TV show

When the seventh season was released on DVD, one of the extras was interviews with cast members, writers, and other people involved with the episode. Larry Thomas, who played the Soup Nazi, claims he got the accent for his character from imitating how Omar Sharif sounded in the movie "Lawrence of Arabia". It wasn't until a bit later that he found out that the character was based on a real person.

Elaine was playing with fire by dangling those recipes in front of him. Imagine her having this glorious moment of vengeance planned out, with her speech and everything, and it's just stopped because he had faster reflexes than she expected and managed to snatch them back. Then she just has to sulk away angry and defeated. And Jerry would hear ALL about it, and that gloating from him would be intolerable.

@@pmbbmp Wrong again, it was a NYC soup stand right by the Letterman show, I used to pass it all the time, it has nothing to with Argentina, the GUY is from Argentina (or somewhere in South America). AFTER the episode aired, Jerry Seinfeld and Spike WENT to the real soup stand in NYC where the guy YELLED at Seinfeld for "ruining his life". (the writers were in NYC during the off-season) So once again, a swing and a miss. Wanna try again?

You missed the entire point of the armoire being stolen by "street toughs". They were an obviously a well dressed upscale gay couple who were very taken with the furniture. By reversing the stereotypical expectations, the writers made a joke of the fact Kramer and Jerry were afraid of them. Wow. 🤪
