I tried my first button holes in my life at age 59 lol. Mending front shirt between snaps. Some button holes beautiful others rat nests below. I guide need to get that accessory. Your video I’m watching after the fact. So much more informative than Bernina sites that have wording & music.

Thank you for the excellent tutorial! One thing I do is before cutting the buttonhole open I run a layer of fraycheck over the buttonhole…allow it to dry….then slice through with seam ripper. No loose threads and stiffer buttonhole.

Thanks for this video. I only have problems with the buttonhole in the collar stand where the foot has to travel off the edge of the fabric. Will the fabric feeding aid help in this situation.
@sewingwithcodyandpete86512 жыл бұрын
Yes it will. Situations like yours is when this attachment is most useful and when customers truly need it. Usually your local BERNINA will be more than happy let you try it out in store to make sure it will work for you.

I watched your video and bough the fabric feeding aid for my Bernina 540 because of my multiple failed attempts to sew a buttonhole just beneath a collar seam. I was a little sceptical that the tool would work but it did! and now all the buttonholes on my Saraste shirt are perfect. Thanks so much for your videos: I'm new to sewing with a Bernina (although not new to sewing) and your tutorials are really clear and so helpful.

You have officially made someone’s day. Mine!!!❤️❤️❤️ I make mostly garments. The Bernina buttonhole foot has threatened my sanity with each project. I got rid of my much loved B350 for this reason. I’m excited to have a 400 series with computerized buttonhole settings but wonder why Bernina didn’t include the compensation plate with the foot? Makes no sense to me other than more money in their pockets. 🙄 Going to buy today. Thanks for such a great tutorial.

Thanks for this information and demonstration. I was hoping to see how this attachment works with making vertical buttonholes on an uneven buttonhole placket. I am using a bulky knit with a very thick edge due to seam allowance on one side. I am hoping to use the fabric feeding aid to help with this exact situation. Can you tell me if this aid will be useful with my problem? I'm actually going to purchase one today at my local Bernina store. Thank you for your help.

Hi, Cody! Love your videos! That plate is really handy. I just wanted to add that some of the machines have a special calibration setting for that #3A foot. It can be found under Gears -> Sewing machine -> Wrench -> Buttonhole Foot No. 3A calibration. Not sure what it does but there is a calibration option there.

Thank you for your videos! They are great. Unfortunately I can't visit you at your store because I live in Germany. I would love to, believe me! Even so, I have hope you could answer one question for me. I want to buy a Bernina just because of the beautiful, professional buttonholes. Just to see this video I get really excited! But this Bernina is a 770. Can you make the same beautiful buttonhole on a 480 or a 570? That's the options I have around here (also because of my budget)... I hope everyone around you is OK, have a nice day :)
@sewingwithcodyandpete86513 жыл бұрын
I am so happy you you are enjoying the videos 🥰🥰. To simply answer your question YES all of the BERNINAs make an absolutely gorgeous button hole. The three machines you mentioned have the same bobbin hook system so they make the button hole the same way 😀😀. Every around us is doing great if you’re ever in the states and in Louisiana come visit 🥰. Also if you have any other questions just let me know.

Great video. I watch your other one on how to use the button sew-on foot all the time. It is super helpful. My question is this: if my problem is a rayon fabric that won’t cooperate with the buttonhole foot not because it is bulky or there is a nearby seam but just because the machine is eating up the super lightweight fabric, will the buttonhole aid help solve for that issue, too?
@PierceOrchestraSprin Жыл бұрын
Not cody, but I just finished a project with this problem. I found that If I made the buttonhole satin stitch less dense, it didn't eat my fine fabric (or in my case get stuck in one place forever). Try that first.

I have been going crazy trying to do a button hole on a narrow placket on the front of a shirt for a doll. It is a nice looking plaid mens shirt! the buttonhole plate is a little wider than the placket. Will the compensation plate help with this.The buttonholes must be vertical because there is not enough width.

will less pressure on my buttonhole foot help me put in buttonholes in thicker neckbands?
@sewingwithcodyandpete86512 жыл бұрын
Less pressure will help a little on thicker neckbands but if it is at all uneven under the buttonhole foot the "buttonhole fabric feeding aid" will make a much bigger difference. It really depends on the fabric and how thick and even it is under the foot. :)

Can’t do an auto buttonhole on my 720. I’ve measured the button on the screen , it shows the length & auto on the display but after I reach the desired length pressing quick reverse doesn’t program the length as when I press start/stop or foot control it continues stitching the first leg. Came here to see if I’m doing something wrong, but no, I’m doing exactly what you are doing. Only way I can do the buttonholes is in manual. I wonder if something is wrong with my sensor.

Can I sew a buttonhole on a knit sweater? I am a new owner of a Bernina 570QE. I would love to sew zippers and buttonholes on my garments but not sure what presser foot to use
@virginiaunger44232 жыл бұрын
I recently purchased a Buttonhole Compensation Plate for my Bernina 770 and it is not what your video shows. It is simply a plastic ;template. No instructions in the package. Is it simply placed under the Buttonhole foot? It doesn't snap onto the foot so I am confused ...is it going to work?
