I love vintage Bernina machines, I am a Bernina fan, the new Bernina 830 / 880 is a great machine, unfortunately for me unreasonably expensive.

It's a shame that Bernina no longer has a voice-over type video for those that have issues with learning visually rather than by ear. You'd think for a machine that costs in excess of $12,000.00 they could afford someone to do a voice-over!

Patrick Meyeres you can not beat the quality of a Bernina. Just sayin. It is not in my budget currently plus my 25 year old bernina still works just fine. I can dream tho.

this is a dream sewing machine! But it`s a bit of a pity, that there`s no any text on sewing machine's screen - I doubt it would be convenient to remember all the buttons by heart.

+martha Hernandez busca en internet el concesionario mas próximo a donde usted vive. El precio a partir de 10.00 dependiendo de los accesorios el programa de bordado que le instales (muy necesario), el modelo. Esta de arriba anda por los 12.000, pero siempre puedes conseguir un descuento razonable, de por lo menos mas de 3000. Estas maquinas son muy buenas, pero cada accesorio, por ejemplo pie de costuras comenzara a partir de los 30.00 dolares. Ademas deberás tomar clases porque aunque ves los videos y te parece fácil. NO LO ES. Llevan una serie de pasos que hay cumplir al pie de la letra, para conseguir un buen resultado. La calidad de los hilos debe ser excelente tanto como el hilo de la bobina, que no sera el mismo de bordar a menos que estés bordando encajes. Y una ultima cosa. NUNCA COMPRES UNA MAQUINA DE ESTAS USADAS. La garantía de fabrica no es la misma y puede traerte muchas sorpresas.

Just bought an 820 (2nd hand) and no way can I get the auto threader working. It goes through the process and shows the machine ready to sew, but no thread in the needle. Apparently a bad fault with this machine.

Maybe you want to also contact the person that sold you the B 820 secondhand to learn if she already had issues with threading. I hope that you will be able to solve the problem soon.

Please show how to tension top thread when not using automatic threading, such as when using the walking foot. I am using aurilfil thread and error message and no stitches indicate top thread is not tensioning.

Pitty that Bernina doesn't offer in-built wifi connection, the cloud storage and the possibility to manage your photos directly on the machine.

It isn’t that simple to thread a Bernina, unless they have solved that problem. I have an 830 and could never, for a long, long time find a fork prong looking thing under the bobbin area where the thread for SEWING was supposed to go, it is all black under there so I couldn’t see it. There’s a different area where the thread goes for embroidery, I don’t have a problem with that, just sewing part.

Hi Florence, thanks for your comment. We're sorry to hear that you had issues with threading for sewing with the B 830. Threading the B 830 is indeed very different from previous models. The threading for the B 880 is the same as with your machine and it is actually less involved as with the embroidery threading. If you look at the video above at 03:24, you can see clearly that the thread goes into the slit at the right and then around to the left. Pull the thread upwards under the thread cutter and then you are done. No need to look under the bobbin case area. The BERNINA 8 Series are great machines and I wish you lots of sewing pleasure.

Whenever I have a problem trying to get the bobbin correctly threaded, which is most of the time, I just have to get away from it before I want to get my hammer! I will certainly take a look at that video, I need all the help and videos I can get a hold of! All I want to do is sit and see, but this is certainly most frustrating to say the very least. I looked at video, sorry, I’ve tried doing it that way too, never works for me, thanks though, I’ll just keep trying. One day I’m going to reach my limit and this machine will go.

Dear Pat, thanks for your comment. We have voice-over instructions on some of our videos but mostly use text inserts. Text inserts have many advantages: They make it possible to stop a video at any time and still read the message, they are ideal for people that watch the video on a mobile device with the sound turned off and, last but not least, they make our videos understandable for the hearing impaired.
