Chur ist eine kleine Stadt (36.000 Einwohner) mit einem Bahnhof einer 100.000 Einwohner-Stadt. Chur is a little town (36.000 inhabitants) with a railway-station of a city with 100.000 inhabitants. Coire est une petite ville (36.000 habitants) avec une gare d'une ville de 100.000 habitants.

Thanks for the great video showcasing this beautiful route. I cannot wait to book a trip to Switzerland to take this train! The panorama cars look like a fabulous way to make the most of it too. Looking forward to more Swiss rail videos :)

Nowadays the best way to travel in the swiss trains (and also in the other countries) is using the interrail pass. I used it five years ago on the Glacier Express from St.Moritz to Zermatt, but unfortunatelly I had to pay almost half of the voyage. But it was worthy. Specially traveling in the panoramic cars. My wife and I met a great couple, she is Brazilian and he is English, also traveling in that train and he explained to me almost everything about the route we were taking. It was one of the highlights of that journey. Not to mention the landscape. I hope one day I'll do the same route again. We left Portugal with temperatures around 39/40º C and got only 6º C in Zermatt and also some rain, even in August.

Aaahh yeah that's so true, however the section to Zermatt is also covered by Interrail / Eurail now. Glacier express is operated by 2 companies, that's why. Intertail has definitely some advantages, however there are also disadvantages, it really depends on the country if its worth it. For a lot of Eastern European countries I don't think it's worth it to be honest. There will be some more panorama trains in Switzerland soon. On one hand I feel like uploading videos really soon, but because I want to be sure I have enough content to show, I only upload one video per w weeks. The next panorama train I'll upload (also the only one that has been edited so far) will be the Golden Pass Line from Luzern to interlaken, also a great route. Probably I'll publish that video in Marc or April 2022.

Great video with many nice information. From Chur there are many super scenic train routes to explore with Rhatische Bahn. I did the Chur - Arosa a few years ago in the winter. Keep up!

I am planning to go in April. Can anyone help me with if Bernina express directly goes to Tirano from Chur, or I will need to change Bernina express in between stations? Thanks a lot.

I am planning to stay in Novotel Zurich Airport Messe next week. I want to travel to chur from there. Which railway station is nearest for going to Chur ? Can anybody advice please

Chur has a railway, you can just buy a ticket to Chur that's the exact railway station I'm featuring in this video.

We plan to take the Bernina Express In December, I plan to buy a Eurail Pass. I understand that there is still a reservation fee for the bernina express. How many panoramic trains depart Chur in Dec. as I am planning travel from Interlaken in the Morning and catch the Bernina Panoramic train in Chur. It would be nice if there is a timetable of Panoramic trains leaving chur in the month of december.

hi! excellent explanation, do you recommend to make half way with panoramic and half way with regional so you can stop more time in any town?

Thank you. There are some nice towns along the way, so if you feel like doing that you can do so. However this are in general smaller towns. The reservation fee for the panoramic cars is the same price, no matter the distance, so if you will take this in shorter sections I personally would chose to stay in the regional part of this train.

So, the windows are retractable only in the first class coach? I booked this train journey on New Year’s Eve! Can’t wait to hop in! But, I reserved a seat with a panaromic window in a second class coach. So, I think it’s not possible to open the windows there. Am I right?

If you have a reserved seat you can't open the windows. However, within those cars there are some spots where you can do so, that's near the toilet. In December this should also be awesome. My first time I took this train was late April and with the snow at the Bernina Pass, it was so pretty. Have fun and let me know how you liked it. I hope this video helps you a bit.

I’ve been looking at many different videos from KZbin as well as in Instagram, but couldn’t figure out how this retractable window works ( I mean in which wagons, it is possible to open windows). It is really nice that you explain different coaches in detail! Nice work overall! I’ll for sure, update you how it went in comments! 🚂

Hello @Trainviking; question should I buy 1st class Eurail pass if I do reservation for Bernina Express or can it be 2nd class? There is not choice in the webpage only Eurail pass thats it.

I think you can reserve on the Rhätische Bahn website. If you have a first class pass, you can reserve a seat in both first and second class, however first class is often earlier booked fully out, so take that in consideration. Somehow the popular panorama trains in Switzerland are really popular to book in 1st class, Switzerland isn't cheap and if people spend money, they rather do it well. 2nd class is fine to me, however 1st class is a bit nicer of course. Long story short, 1st class allows you to travel in both 1st and 2nd class, however the availability is very limited on the Bernina Express. General tip: the late train from Chur and the early train from Tirano (to Chur) do have more availability. I don't know this for the St. Moritz - Tirano train to be honest.

Best video - has just the right amount of detail. So, do we have to get off the Albula train and get back on the Berninia while traveling from Chur to Tirano or do we remain seated? Also, does the Swiss Travel Pass not cover the Berninia?

If you take the direct train from Chur to Tirano you can remain seated.

I used an Interrail and I had seperate reservations. For tickets you can best go to the Rhätische Bahn website.

Theocratic you can travel in one day with interrail to Napels. However, I recommend to take some more time. We took the slow route, so spend less time along the way and more time in trains.

If you want to travel in the panorama coaches, you really need to book in advance because this will probably be booked out. For the regional train, you can just take a regular ticket. I traveled with the use of an Interrail (for non Europeans, Eurail) pass. It's also possible to use a Swiss pass and of course regular train tickets.

Great video as always. I love the journeys you take, but the music is too loud and unnecessary. Sort of ruins the experience.

Thanks for your feedback. For new videos the background sound is lower. However I really prefer music for the moments I show views from the train, because I also have conversations with my girlfriend (on this trip) and just filter out some conversations and sometimes screaming kids (not that often though, most kids are pretty sweet in a train)

Absolutely yes. It's pretty often fully booked, especially in first class.

If you're having a Eurail glpbal pass or Eurail Switzerland pass you can take these trains. A reservation for the panorama's coaches is obligated.

@@Trainviking thanks so much.By the way,what is the actual chur station name and route you guys took..is it a 1st class ,2nd class or the Panorama carriage u guys a taking as we wish to follow your steps of this video..must we physically transfer to another Bernina express train along the way to get to Tirano ..we also want to continue our journey to Rome thereafter..at Tirano station..is it possible to directly transfer at Tirano all the way to Rome main station?Any advice too.thanks so much
