I found one of these in a local antique mall probably 10 years ago and paid $125-150 for it. I took it immediately to our local Bernina dealer to have it checked out and serviced, which was about $100. My dealer said I got a really good deal - even that many years ago. Back then I knew nothing about servicing sewing machines. Now I own probably a dozen different machines and have become quite confident in doing maintenance on them. It's important to keep them oiled and free of lint and with a new needle - sometimes halfway through a project. Maintenance like this is well worth the trouble so that the machine performs at it's best. My 830 is from 1977 and it makes a beautiful stitch and is very quiet. I kind of wish I had a walking foot for it but I don't want to pay $150 for that, especially since this machine doesn't have the harp space (the area from the needle to the right and from the bed up to the under side of the machine) necessary to quilt anything bigger than say a baby quilt. It is a great machine though. It came with the red case, the extension table and needle lifter and a small box of attachments but not the original red one.

These are great, well made machines - looks like you have it running quite nicely! I serviced my neighbor/friend's back in 2020 (never having used a Bernina before). She had the whole shabang - red carrying case, tons of feet etc. The only issue I had was with the manual buttonholer. Can't remember if it was left or right side of stitches on the buttonhole, but one side had a significantly longer stitch length. Kind of like you wanted to do a second round just on that one side to make it look even with the other side. I read (on forums) that others had or noticed this as well. I might borrow it again to service it,, as she never oils it anyway, and test it again. :) I'm impressed your stitches looked so nice, after running a knit through there without a jersey/stretch needle! Enjoy!
