I'm currently working my way through his recordings of the Mahler symphonies with the Vienna Phil. The last movement of the 9th had me in tears. God Bless you Lennie. I love you. Rest in peace. ❤

The movie was called, "Maestro". It was mis-named. Cooper did a great job, but as far as the story goes; there is so much more to Lenny than his personal relationships.

“Dedication and commitment” as Lenny put it. He was the inviolable incarnation of both! LOVE him💖

I believe his last rehearsal was at Tanglewood with the student orchestra and Copeland 3rd. He performed the Copeland publicly in the shed, and it was his final performance. Both rehearsal and performance were recorded. He was quite ill and both were not up to standard and are heart breaking to listen to, but his commitment to his students and his art remained until the end.

According to media and anecdotal accounts, it's more likely his final performance was with the BSO at Tanglewood in August 1990. The program included Britten's Four Sea Interludes & Beethoven's 7th. It was reported he gripped a post on the podium to keep his balance and that he was physically assisted off the grounds following the performance.

Love the clip...and it's spelled Copland

"Both were not up to standard"... On behalf of those who played what was Bernstein's penultimate concert. The COPLAND was pretty amazing.

Dear God, Leniushka! He couldn't go on any more on that rehearsal, you can see that. He was so amazing, it's like he's never passed away.

Definitely. It’s hard to watch at times.

I wish there had been more of this in the movie. I was very disappointed and tuned out of the movie after about 45 minutes.

I have heard many say they couldn’t even make it through. That is a shame. I wish they did some more justice to the man.

Well, maybe the movie was good, but as a musician I was really interested in the conducting angle. Was impressed with all the smoking though. They didn't leave that out! haha. @@MrMayAllDay

The movie wasn’t just about Bernstein. It was about he and Felicia’s relationship.

Valuable if not heart (and gut)- wrenching, but I wish we could have heard the equally tragic (yet poignant) Schubert. Leonard was obviously close to the end--as all of us will be, and it's never easy (cancer or not).
