@@97rtn I think it's almost a bit dishonest to look at that as somehow 'proof' of how Tyler should have or could have won though. Because ultimately any switch in offense would be hard for the other skater, in any of these games. These are very very good flatground skaters. In theory they can all beat each other. I think Jamie got a tiny bit 'lucky' in Tyler feeling the need to call a redo on his trick. (Which was the right call, but still. There was a 50% chance he wouldn't do that. There were more tricks where he toe or heel touched.) But apart from that the exciting semi final game had a pretty justified winner. It takes a _lot_ of nerve for Jamie to just casually start with a couple of easy tricks, ramp it up and destroy Tyler.

Nick is good, don’t get me wrong but I’m not sure how he ended up in the finals. Fortunate match ups I guess? As soon as I knew he was up against Jamie for the championship, I knew it was going to be a skunking. Seeing that the video was less than 7 min long confirmed that, almost didn’t even need to watch. Besides the double hard flip and the impossible late flip, Jamie barely reached into his bag for this game. Easy.

@jamesbest9806
@jamesbest9806 Жыл бұрын
Bro he smoked everyone else he played. It’s not his fault what side of the bracket he ended up in. Tyler and Jamie are better for sure. And Nick also had an off game. But I said from the start he would make the finals and he did. He is the 3rd best flat ground skater in the competition without a doubt so he deserved to be there on the night even though Tyler and Jamie should have been the final. If this year was still how battle at berrics used to be before BATB12 when everyone used to just to play super long games going through all the basics and not just start the match with 3 double flips, a late flip, 2 pressure flips and a body varial he could have won. Just remember, Jamie skunked Sewa and destroyed Luan this same year as well and no one doubts their capability of getting to a finals. No different for Nick, he’s on the same level as those two for flatground. Jamie and Tyler are just in a different universe to the rest because they’ve taken the time to learn so many obscure tricks no one else will ever really bother to essentially, while also having the basics on lock

@jamesbest9806
@jamesbest9806 Жыл бұрын
@@billybobthekidiswack na that’s cap. Nick hasn’t even shown his full capability because he’s either won so fast or lost fast in this case. Watch the old Majer crew games of skate, and he’s only gotten better since then. Luan and Nick would be a good match. But Cole would probably lose again on a good day. Remember, Nick beat PJ Ladd and Morgan Smith like 6 years ago when they were near the prime and he hadn’t even reached his full potential then. Cole is great but he’s not as consistent as he used to be and you got to take matchups for how they are now, not in the past.

@PHeMoX
@PHeMoX Жыл бұрын
Because he's not a flatground skater in this particular genre of tricks. He also loves manual tricks way too much, nor is he actually as consistent with his tricks as you might believe. You pretty much have to 1. be able to successfully defend against what tricks others do and 2. be super consistent with your own tricks on offense. Daewon is a legend, but probably isn't a good enough flatground skater.

I think he's just the best at SKATE. I personally think there are guys like Luan for example that are objectively better at flat ground because they skate fast, pop high and don't have to rely on obscure tricks to win. Not taking anything away from Jamie. If you look at Jamie's 360's for example, yes they have gotten better but he barely pops them let alone completes the rotation. But yes, congrats Jamie.

@@masonsmith9241 It doesn't lol. Idk what this guy is talking about... Skating fast is more of a style thing, but has nothing to do with what kind of tricks you can or can't do. Yeah but give Jamie credit for trying to turn it into a longer more competitive game. He could have brought out some of his more insane tricks in his repertoire and killed the game off quickly. Particularly as I think his opponent had a slightly off day. Maybe nerves or something. I think Jamie did the gentleman thing and gave nick an opportunity to stay in the game, but he was just on an off day. He seems a humble guy to me and his approach to this game has only reinforced my opinion that he is a nice guy with incredible consistency. I wonder how many offers he has got from last alone, never mind doing it again.

If SKATE got pushed that far it would lose a lot of what makes it fun. You would have people pulling out very obscure tricks for easy letters and we would have slow motion replays analyzing exactly how much the 360s rotate before sliding, how much your toe dragged, how wrapped was your impossible. I like how the berrics mostly kept the fun spirit in the game without obsessing too much over the rules.

The ending was rather lackluster it didn’t feel like it was the championship round at all compared to the last season, and the fact he was advertising concrete for sell at the end….

Since this is the last BATB in this building, how bout making the next BATB have alternating turns/sets?? Would make for more competitive games since each skater would be trying to land his/her top 5 best tricks rather than hoping to win roshambo then never bailing on tricks to win the game.

It would be nice to have a double round robin format :-D We would have a lot of very exciting battles, and skaters, like Giger for instance, who do not handle pressure very well, would have a chance to shine later on. We would see many beautiful tricks, that please the eye. (Yeah, this finals was very disappointing from that perspective...) Anyway thank you Berrics for this games and good luck for what comes next !

Giger is just not as good, accept it. I love his videos, and he is a nice guy with crazy tricks but his consistency is not good enough

@@bdzsana True, which makes sense. His whole channel is about nailing superhard tricks and then to continue to the next one. That doesn't work well with a SKATE game.
