I had a Bersa in 380 at one time and never had issues. I now have a Bersa Thunder Pro full size 40 S&W that I really like. Bersa is often overlooked, but they make good products.

Bersa pistols are underrated and reasonably priced.

It really amazes me how such an old design pistol, berated for years, has made such a huge comeback. I am an old guy, so you can understand my love for the 1911. IMO, the "hate" for the platform began around 1970 when cheap(ly made) imports began showing up. Malfunctions were the main feature, no wonder they got a bad rap. Because I shoot only for score; size and weight are not a consideration. Going to the range, I have two 30 cal ammo boxes, one for .45 and one 9mm, full of charged magazines. I like Wilson Combat Elite Tactical, Nighthawk, Metalform and Mec-Gar; but sure there are many others that function as well. I was skeptical about this Bersa, but not any longer. Looks like a contender!

I remember back then there were Pistol smiths all across the fruited plain who made a living out of making 1911s reliable that includes Colts. All those special features that used to cost 1000s of gun smithing dollars are now included in factory guns.

Nice. Glad to see Bersa doing it well. The OG Walther copies flew off the shelves of my pops store early 90s. likely 10-20 per every PPK sold. Taurus of that era flew off the shelves as well. And no complaints or factory repair send offs.

I said in the tabeltop review that I'm not a 1911 fan. After seeing that accuracy, i think I'm converted. No doubt 1911 and 45 acp are like peaches and cream.😊

Feature set, fit and finish appear to be very good. I think it compares well with US made production grade 1911s at that price point. A solid 1911 for home and range. Thanks for the article and videos.

Good review. I consider the 1911 obsolete as a 'duty' weapon but it does have its virtues, chief among them is easy to shoot well once you are used to the platform. It's also, let's face it, adult Lego with huge aftermarket support. I've largely left .45 ACP behind these days but I am currently putting together a 1911 .45 as my 'Pooping-in-the-woods-OMG-is-that-a-bear?' gun. That's a pretty niche application and with the right ammo 9mm will probably do the job just as well against PNW black bears, but I just *feel* better using the .45 in this application. I know, I know, I'm over-thinking the whole bear-defense thing but hey, it's an excuse to build another 1911!

Where about are you in the PNW?

@@GBGuns I'm in south Seattle above Renton. I'm actually a native and worked at Detonics for a time in the 1980's. That's where I learned to love the 1911; the ones we had in the army were long past their sell-by date and we didn't think much of them.

Since when did Lego's require hand fitting and filing/polishing to make them work?

@@XuroX. I was just commenting on the probable source of the issue, not saying it was OK for a gun t come that way from the factory.

I have a Tisas B45 duty version 5 inch and a Springfield Loaded 5 inch 45acp. The only issue I have ever had with my 1911 was an extractor that was too tight. I tuned them both/relaxed the tension a bit and they fed 100% after that over 500 plus.

I have a bunch of that Sig Elite ammo. Most has nickel plating but I noticed some random boxes are brass. I was unloading a mag I had thought was all 124gr and I found a few brass cases. Weird.

Any plans on tuning the grip safety? My 1911 doesn't engage the grip safety until it's about 3/4s the way depressed. If it didn't have the memory bump, I'd have even more issues. Hoping I can change that.
