I believe griffiths pettiness towards guts never left. He was definitely bulshitting when he said he doesn’t care about guts anymore imo. It’s not a smart move by any means, but I think he just wants to torment guts for what he did Waaaay back to their duel. Griffith has been inferred time and time again to be a control freak, so having something he can’t control really gets to him. Even though it’s pointed out he can’t even effect the flow of the river; guts is the fish that can fly out of the river. While he has no effect on the big picture, guts HIMSELF can’t be controlled and that pisses Griffith off. We’ve been shown that the apostles always turn back to normal after death, showing their true human form. And despite his godlike powers, his charisma, and power over others; deep down he’s still that tortured frail prisoner who can’t stand seeing guts and casca happy.

That last part really hits the nail. Seeing Guts and Casca moved on from his curse must have felt like he didn't matter anymore to them so in his hubris, brought them back to his control by taking Casca in order to handle his child transformations, to weaken the competition and to break Guts simply to be petty. Guts doesn't know what he wants to do with Griffith but on the path to letting go but Griffith could never give him peace because it invalidates him.

I'll be the first to admit that I was a little annoyed with the "light hearted" direction that Berserk had taken despite still enjoying it overall but...oh boy. When I read the final chapters of Fantasia I was practically screaming for the fantasy bullshit creatures and dumb children sidekicks to be okay. It wasn't until that point that I realized how invested I had actually gotten with them all and how crushed I would be if they died. Seeing the Astral plane residents fade away was incredibly heartbreaking. Ya got me, Miura. Even from the grave ya got me good.

The main reason he did this is because he WANTS Guts to pursue him endlessly. It's his new way of possessing Guts. It's why he enraged Guts by violating Casca and corrupted their baby all the way back in Golden Age. Everything he ever did was to manipulate Guts. To keep him under his control. When Guts walked away and found a new family, it probably set off Griffith. So now he's taking the one thing Guts chose over him, and is keeping it next to him at all times so that Guts has no choice but to go after him in order to get it back. Even if Guts lets go, Griffith never will. And hopefully, that'll be his downfall.

It's interesting that some prefer Berserk to end on 364. The last words they would read from Berserk and think canon is literally "That, too, will soon disappear with a single tear like morning dew." It almost poetic in a way. At least twenty one hours, three-hundred sixty-four chapters, almost thirty years, and to them it all ends so abruptly.

It was a decent ending if not conclusive. It’s relatively happy, and we get a nice reveal that when Griffith is trapped in the moonlight child he swallowed with immense guilt and selfloathing due to having his emotions return before reverting back to his heartless self. But of course it also leaves the giant cliffhanger of it being the first time the three have actually been together since the eclipse.

There's something so strikingly beautiful that Miura's final chapter was chapter 364, just one chapter (day) away from making it a full year. I'm really glad they're continuing the story but I never would have minded if Berserk simply ended at that last panel.

But now, the flames have been all but extinguished. He has well and truly lost. And I struggle to see how Guts will ever actually face Griffith in combat. Even with the Berserker Armor activated. Whatever enchantment the Dragonslayer has, clearly doesn’t do anything to Griffith. And if Griffith is able to manipulate the Berserker Armor to make sure it doesn’t activate, Guts has no hope of winning a fight 1 on 1. Hell, even with support, unless Skull Knight is one of those backing him there is no way I see Guts even hurting him. These chapters have been insane and I’m so happy they’ve decided to continue Berserk. I have slight issues with these new chapters but honestly, the positives HEAVILY out weigh the negatives. And these last 2-3 chapters have been some of the best chapters I’ve read of Berserk. I adored them. I truly hope Guts finds a way to stand back up again and get Casca back.

I began reading Berserk in July shortly after you dropped your 21 hour video. My friend showed it to me and I always knew Berserk as "that edgy swordsman anime I saw an episode of in High School" (the 1990s anime). I skimmed through a few parts and by chance watched the ending of the fourth arc and I was hooked. And when I would finish an arc of Berserk's manga I would go to your video to see what pieces of info I missed, your video helped contextualize a lot of the tragedies Guts and co. faced. I finished 364 on the same day you posted this video and I only just got around to watching it right now (because a friend of mine had stopped reading Berserk after Miura's death so it was a big deal for the two of us to read the latest 5 chapters together) and that was a trip. I'm super excited to be fully caught up on Berserk just as Fantasia is ending. I can't wait to see how the story continues, thank you for these videos and keep up the good work!!

I have a theory, Casca, in her comatose state, is going to have a mental struggle with herself. This other side of her will be Elaine, her fear and innocence. For her to overcome her demons from the past she must first conquer the demons within herself. Btw, I'm new to the channel and I had to say use sum up your interpretation of berserk very nicely.

Because its its not miura anymore. Thats why they reject. The new chapters wont have the finer details to lore and whatnot that miura would probably put in. Its kinda the same aspect with star wars. Complain all you want bout the prequels and the old extended universe. George lucas still had his hand in it. Now look at what disney has done with star wars. Yeah, "never interrupt your enemy when hes making a mistake" the beast of darkness wants a mentally broken guts with nothing left to lose so it can more easily take control. I dont think the beast of darkness knows fear at all, it seems like a complete force of nature and i think it will be what allows guts to harm griffith.

I believe Kouji Mori will do just fine finishing it. This isn't the first time a legendary piece of media was adequately finished by someone else capable. Brandon Sanderson was able to finish The Wheel of Time with only notes left behind by Robert Jordan. Franz Xaver Süssmayr finished Mozart's Requiem. Heck, Wikipedia has a massive list of works posthumously completed by others. Granted while Kouji Mori might not have notes, he has the years of knowing and working with Miura to use as a guide.
