Yeah it's both the Snake Lord and the Count. No apostle looks the same as others. As to why Zodd gave a prophecy to Guts, I guess it's due to Zodd respecting Guts as a warrior of great potential.

Great review and introspection. The next 3 volumes are amazing. 11 might be my personal favorite, so sad that it always gets skipped in the anime and then again in the movies. This volume begins a series of lots of interesting looks from Griffith. Kentaro Miura draws character emotions so well .. pay close attention to all the shots of Griffith's eyes and face for the rest of the golden age arc. That in itself is a hell of a story hidden within this heck of a story.

and btw Griffith's dream is not Guts. What griffith means is that Guts made him forget his Dream. Guts is just the first person which Griffith truly recognized as a Friend. I mean he even tried to strangulate Guts at first, he wanted to literally kill him, but then he obviously didn't continued doing so

The thing is while griffith got tortured he thincked as you saw a lot about Guts. At the end he was the Man who was kinda ''responsible'' for his down fall, but i get were you are coming from. Griffith thought alot about the reason why he was even atteched that much to Guts while the answer was pretty simple. He was his Friend. Since griffith never saw a person as a friend he automatically referred Guts to his dream.

Chibi Reviews If you think back to vol.1-3 you notice that the demons are in human form so thats why people don't know about them too much, they can be right next to you and you would not know. Rickert have a good roll to play in things to come, you could say it was faith form him to go fetch water and be the last one to be saved. Also this is the past and vol.1-3 took please in the future so yes the Demons you see are the ones form vol.1-3.

You know, a lot of people blame Guts for walking out on Griffith. It's like the dude isn't his own man, and has to be made responsible for the choices other people make in his absence. But i digress. About the Skull Knight, oh man, i'd tell you just a tiny phrase that'd probably turn your perception of that character 180º, but i don't want to ruin it for you, since you're not far off from [REDACTED]. I will say that just maybe there's a crucial possibility you're skipping about him, and there's enough material in what you just read for you to get there. I will just bemuse on one little thing, though (and no, i don't know the answer for a fact): Is it possible that the Skull Knight just wanted to save Rickert, no strings attached?

I think what this chapter was indicating by showing these demons moving about (Giant serpent-like demon and count) it's that it's time to appoint new apostles. Just a way for The Godhand to have some influence over humanity.

Kaneki still had a fucking centipede in his brain, Griffith didn't have anything making crunchy noises inside his headspace and continuously being eaten from inside out. Even though I love Berserk to death I could argue the torture Kaneki suffered is in different spectrum and was probably more intense than the slowburn Griffith endured. Though one could argue that due to Griffith's torture lasted longer it was more impactful. Griffith was essentially a human so he could not be tortured every day for multiple days, it would've killed him. Kaneki on the otherhand was possibly tortured for hours upon hours each day. I think Griffith would have broken and certainly died from being eaten by a centipede. xD

One has to wonder why Skull Knight waited until the Eclipse to save Guts, why would he not stop Guts on his way to the Eclipse when he was chasing Griffith, why wait until he was branded? There's something in this thing for Skull Knight at the end of this.

Not much of a spoiler, but Chapter 1 takes place roughly 1 1/2 years after the Golden Age ends. Yeah....after beating the tar out of their Prince back at the Hawks camp, Gutts doesn't have much to fear from regular Bakiraki, though they are damn dangerous...they just aren't on that level. --------------------------- Another good series I can recommend is Vinland Saga (still on-going). It's got a similar feel to the Golden Age arc, except it's actually based on real history (with some embellishments here and there and "filler" additions to give people who aren't familiar with those cultures a better perspective on the story, but is also close enough that if you actually look up the relevant information you can predict where the story is going, if you want to.)

The translation I read never specified the number of angels, and read "and then angels appeared" (or something like that). 5 Angels however wouldn't make sense as the 5th and final Godhand is Griffith, who has yet to be reincarnated as a Godhand.

It's a historical seinen about a boy on his quest to avenge his father's death and how his journey becomes intertwined with the Vikings' war against Britain. Along the way, he'll learn what it means to be a "true warrior". Reminiscent of the Golden Age of Berserk, it would only makes sense to read it! You won't regret it, believe me!

I'm kinda late with this comment haha but comparing kaneki with griffiths torture is maybe not that easy. You have to take into consideration that Griffith is a VERY strong willed person while Kaneki is a very fragile person obviously Kaneki would break down easier and his toes where pulled of, regenerated and pulle of again. But still the torture Griffith had to endure was still horrible

I don't think Kaneki suffered for just 10 days... You can probably look up hair growth alone to know it takes months to grow out hair. I think the way white hair works is that as the different growth cycles happen to each individual strand, the dark hairs fall out when it's time (or earlier) leaving strands of gray/white here and there. Kaneki had a full head of hair and mostly white so at a human mathematical standpoint, I don't understand where you got 10 days. Also, Volume 13 is going to have you screaming profanity quite a bit.
