So many years ago my high school voice teacher told me to look up this guy when I was practicing "Bring Him Home" From Les Mis... I saw the video and loved it! a while later I saw Love Never Dies for the first time, and fell in love with this song... buuut he thought it would be to high for me so no amount of "Please, Mr Middleton"(voice teacher's name) was gonna get him to let me perform it... but now I can go back to him with this as proof that it CAN be done! haha But in all seriousness This was a fabulous performance!

How has he not played the Phantom in the POTO on Broadway yet?!?!
@BennieDuck4 жыл бұрын
Phantom in POTO is more of a baritone, only going into a G#4, whereas in Love Never Dies, he has to be a tenor due to the high note being a C5. LND Phantom would be better for him imo
@navidnamini11694 жыл бұрын
Valourian I always thought phantom was a tenor role. Many baritones I’ve heard struggled to do the part
@BennieDuck4 жыл бұрын
@@navidnamini1169 it goes lower than it goes high but it has been played by both. For example, Ramin Karimloo is a tenor but Norm Lewis is definitely a baritone.
@navidnamini11694 жыл бұрын
Valourian I recommend Timothy Nolen, he was INCREDIBLE as the phantom! He is actually an operatic bass-baritone

Sorry but nobody sings it as good as Ben Lewis. Gardar Thor Cortes is close second, though.

TheMsiaddict I'm watching it live now (it's intermission) and Gardar is amazing. He's been breaking my heart with his performance in the best way possible.

This was not a good performance for Drew. He's incredible but I think it might be age and/or cigarettes (I thought he smoked) catching up with him. His "let them die" was totally flat at 2:23, but starting from 2:18, it's a lot of mouth singing with little to no resonance.

Absolutely terrible. Not that Drew Sarich isn't a great singer. HE IS! But the part doesn't suit him well. He sounds young and boyish (in spite of his age), not like a Phantom at all. But well, worldwide they make the same mistake when casting this role. It's hopeless. They don't cast people like Peter Hofmann anymore. Nowadays all the Phantoms sound like boygroup members on crack. A yelling, screaming, belting nightmare. 😥
@millakoda58604 жыл бұрын
With all respects to Peter Hofmann, I prefer Drew Sarich. Yes, he sounds young but definitely not boyish and I would like to see him as a Phantom also in ''Phantom of the opera", not just in sequel.
@jenspflug74733 жыл бұрын
Who are you to judge about "them making the same mistake worldwide"? It is working, worldwide, and that is what counts. What you expressed is your personal taste and that's okay. But don't put your personal opinion -stamp onto the the whole world....
