So one question I have is that if you use the black things to avoid putting glue on the clamp, won't that make the panels you are gluing together misaligned?

It is just a completely non issue. If you need it to hold its position, put one of the flat faced shims under it clipped to the bar which you're more than likely going to use anyway. Or pick it up by the screw handle.

If you are working in a professional workshop you just want the tool to work. Having to carry out lots of little changes is not the best use of time.

Bessey Clamps look and feel amazing. But are far too expensive. You should checkout the Wingman Clamp that I designed. No stand up and slide down issue and less than a quarter of the price of the Bessey with a capacity of over 1000 lbs. I got several videos on my channel... would love to get your feedback on them. - Cay

Very cool. I had a look at your clamps. These Bessey clamps claim 1700lbs so it's significantly more, but on mine I have busted the threads on my Besseys on these little hard to access screws you can only access with an alan key. Not only that, perhaps I added to much force, but those little bits on mine the threads are ruined in addition to being squashed/warped and I can't even fit the key in and I doubt if I could I would be able to turn it due to warping. So I'm interested in your clamp for using what looks like much more rugged materials and components. I seem unable to even figure out how to easily take apart the Bessey unit to investigate it properly, and when I look for parts those little metal bits on the inside aren't even on the parts catalog. Remind me why am I paying a premium for these superior bessey clamps again?
