Its close to perfect. I only wish they had the older, less busy bezel. It was gorgeous. I actually prefer the design of the older watch and the 600m water resistance. I hope they keep the old one in production. Im still liking the Aquitaine GMT over this, aiming for that as my first luxury watch with that 56 hour power reserve.

Excellent, concise review, well edited and photographed. I bought one of these in black as a slimmer alternative to the C60 #Tide I already own. Your point about COSC certification is well taken. My C60 #tide is COSC certified,, and given the relatively small additional charge for that level of tuning, I would happily pay the extra at this price point. That small upgrade would tick literally all of my boxes. As good as the black one looks, I am still wondering if I should have ordered the white one instead. Well there is always the Sealander GMT out there, with an additional orange GMT hand, for just that much more pop on the wrist. I ordered my Trident Pro 300 with both the bracelet and the black/red nylon/rubber strap, and like both equally - the nylon/rubber for watersports, and the bracelet the rest of the time. Leather straps will get wrecked if you wear them for swimming and diving, but now that CW has made them quickly interchangeable, this is a non-issue either from a fashion or functionality perspective

After looking at all the colors I think I figured out why the white looks the best. Since there is that outside of the dial metal minute track in between the crystal and the bezel, the silver ring visually breaks up the black dial and the black bezel (same with the green and blue versions), so it goes black silver black. But with the white version, it is less noticable as the white and silver kindof visually blend together. So you kindof just see the white dial and then the black bezel. You don't clearly notice the white dial, then a silver ring, then the black bezel. Yes it does go white dial, silver ring, black bezel. But it visually flows smoother, less noticable

I mean what is not to like about the CW; all the specs hit it out of the parc when compared to the Seiko but the Seiko (the SPB147 for me) just won't let me be. Technically this is version 3.1 of the Trident is it not? It’s just an updated, thinner Trident Mk III Pro 600. I’m waiting to see what the updated Mk III Trident Pro 600 looks like with the updated dial logo. There’s some design choices I don’t like on the new 300 version (in particular the steel portion of the bezel and the numbered ceramic insert). I like the older style fully ceramic indexed bezel better. It’s a shame as if they had just changed the logo, I’d have bought one right away. I’m also not a fan of display casebacks on dive watches (the engraved caseback is nicer). I actually like the look of the new C65 Aquataine better than the Trident 300, just wish that was 39mm not 41mm.

While my wrist is slightly smaller (17cm/6.7 in), I'm still eyeing the 38mm version. My 39mm Sealander wears a tad too large for my taste and I think I'd feel the same way about the 40mm Trident. Never having seen any Tridents I cannot be sure, but ... oh well, they do have that 60 day return policy. :) The one thing I *don't* like about the 300 is the see-through caseback, TBH. I don't think those belong on a diver, but it's only a minor gripe (plus I really love the look of the 600's steel caseback).
@SoCalWatchReviews Жыл бұрын
Man you’re in a though spot, but I really think you will like the 40mm better!
@1SaG Жыл бұрын
@@SoCalWatchReviews Problem is that I don't have much of a frame of reference. The Sealander is just so different and its dial is certainly larger than the 38mm Trident's and perhaps even the 40mm Trident's. I think the main reason why I'm not 100% satisfied with the way the Sealander wears is the larger dial (when compared to a diver) which makes the whole watch appear larger than it actually is. The only reference I have is that a 40mm Submariner (ref 14060, mid 90s) wears very well on my wrist. And that the 42mm Steinharts are too large for me while their 39mm versions look great. EDIT: I just took my calipers to the C63 and while I couldn't measure it super precisely, it seems the Sealander's dial is around 32mm in diameter. Both the Submariner and the 39mm Steinhart OVM are more like 28 or 29mm, so... yeah.. maybe I should be looking at the 40mm Trident instead. Mind you: I could only measure from the outside since I'm not a watch-maker and didn't take the movements/dials out of the cases for a more exact measurement. ;)

The only dislikes I have are the clasp (I may be wrong but it looks much longer than the previous Trident) and the 5 minute digits on the bezel. 5 minute increments are fine but the actual digits every 5 minutes just make the bezel too busy in my opinion. Other than that, it looks to be a killer watch and with 3 different sizes and 4 colors, theres an option for everyone. Great review, my friend.
