Australian Gold mineral face sunscreen is beautiful, however it is a bit thick and leaves a white cast. But it works amazing under makeup, and I have acne prone oily skin! Thank you for another amazing video!

Also, Renee... I was waiting for you to post to thank you because ever since I found your channel and applied what I learned from your vids my skin has gotten so much better. My skin was in a really bad place when I started watchig your vids and now about a month has passed and the difference is abysmal! My skin is now the clearest it has been in months! and I don't think I ever knew how plump and hydrated skin felt like. I still have a lot of hyperpigmentation but I'm using an AHA toner and the spots are fading so fast and so well!! Thank you Renee!! You have been my skin's personal savior. No dermatologist I ever visited could do what you did. ❤

Little Miss I just went to check the product's name and I realized it's actually BHA.. anyway I am using the CosRx Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol. Got it off of Memebox for like $10. I use it as a toner morning and night (I layer up toners but I just wipe this product on my problem areas and then follow up with patting my hydrating toners). I've been using it for about 3 weeks and it has done THE MOST for my skin. If you get it just don't use it where you dont need it because it can sting.

do you use it as an exfoliator?could you please gine more info of the steps you follow?thank you!
@EvilAngel191
@EvilAngel191 7 жыл бұрын
tsita78 No, I use a gentle physical exfoliator a couple of times a week. I do a double cleanse with an oil cleanser and then a foaming cleanser (I got the CosRx Low pH cleanser per Renee's suggestion and it's FABULOUS). Then, depending on the day I will exfoliate my skin with a gentle exfoliator (I use Dr. G's Peeling Gel but I found it's more of a physical cellulose exfoliator than a peeling gel). I will later (depending on the day) use a wash-off mask. THEN I tone. I use the CosRx BHA Returning A-Sol in a cotton pad and I wipe it on the problem areas. I continue with a hydrating toner (I have the Dickinson's witch hazel toner, the pink hydrating one without alcohol). I just pat a couple of layers of it on my skin and then I follow with a moisturizer or aloe vera gel and then finish with sunscreen if it's during the day or with a benzoyl peroxide spot cream during the night if I have to treat a spot.

I really like Clinique's City Block. It is zinc oxide and titanium oxide and has a light tint. Now that my skin is drier, I put CeraVe (a light moisturizer) on first and that makes the City Block glide on smoothly. Have used it for 30 years and now at 65 I hardly have any wrinkles.

Yes, thank you! I recently had to switch to mineral only spf (due to sensitivity) and I use the Murad one you mentioned, enjoying it quite a bit. The peach/salmon tint really adds a brightness/radiance to the skin. It's amazing to see so many other great formulas available nowadays. I have dark tan skin and was kind of anxious when I realized I had to switch to physicals because of the white cast and countless drugstore fails as you mentioned, but with this amazing list you shared, I am no longer worried! :)

To all my dark skin and brown skin people! I absolutely love love love the Josie Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47. Warm it up in your hands and then apply to your face. It 100% disappears after a couple of minutes and does not make you greasy (I have normal to dry skin) or leave any kind of white cast! It costs $34 at Sephora for 2 oz, which I think is a pretty great price compared to some other popular facial sunscreens. It also works very very well under makeup.

She is right. It does not leave a cast. I have been using it for a year and I love it. I am sad they no longer make the 6oz bottle. For those with very oily skin and who wear makeup, this may not be the best choice. I have dry skin, and it is perfect. Great choice for those of us with darker skin.

Thank you for your video. I have a brown skin-tone ( MAC NC35). I tried the Murad formula and it leaves a white cast on me. I tried the Drunk elephant one and it has glitter in it ( or glitter like particles) and leaves a slight white cast. My skin is sensitive and can be irritated by non- physical sunscreens & fragrance ( and I just don't like glitter in skincare). I just want to thank you for your review because although the 2 I tried so far from this video don't work for me, I do appreciate this video. You have introduced me to sunscreens I've never heard of and I truly appreciate you ( and now I want to find a zero white cast sunscreen on my skin, instead of settling for a white cast). Thank you, very much.

I absolutely adore you! I am so glad I found your channel :) I just wanted to inform you/everyone about something really IMPORTANT! It is about the fact that you recommend using a vitamin C serum/product under your sunscreen. It is a great tip, but a lot of the mineral and psychical sunscreens have the ingredient niacinamide(which is a ingredient we all should love). But when you mix vitamin C and niacinamide together, they wash eachother out. So that basically means the vitamin C you put on before your sunscreen has no effect. So if you use vitamin C under your sunscreen, you have to make sure your sunscreen does not contain niacinamide (: So if you want to use both of the ingredients, you can use vitamin C in am and niacinamide in pm :) Hope this helped you/everyone :)
@gothamista
@gothamista 7 жыл бұрын
Hiya! Actually, vitamin C and niacinamide do not cancel each other out. They can cause a flushing reaction to the skin if your skin is sensitive which is why highly concentrated products/serums of L-AA or Niacinamide should be separated and not used together, but if your skin does not flush or get heated, then they're ok to use in a routine! Kindofstephen.com has a blog post about it!

I discovered Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Sunscreen because of your DIY cushion video! It's the perfect sunscreen although I have to reconsider because of the alcohol content. Personally, my FAVE physical sunscreen is Replenix Sheer Physical Sunscreen Cream SPF 50 Plus (ordered mine from Dermstore). I have sensitive skin, so I appreciate that this doesn't have fragrance or essential oils and is packed with antioxidants, Vitamin C etc. It works well on my combination skin and isn't drying, doesn't leave a white cast and wears well under makeup too! Highly recommend! This also wears nicely over Drunk Elephant C-firma and a skin oil.

Omg I was so excited to order the etude house sunprise sunscreen BUT, I was reading a review that stated how it has wonderful botanicals in the formula, like aloe, lemon, lime, and bergamot. WHAT?!!!! WHAAAAAT?!!!! Ok, for those of you who don’t know, citrus essential oils are highly photosensitive and can cause damage to the skin of exposed to sunlight! Bergamot is especially bad. I am beyond confused as to why a sunscreen would contain these unnecessary ingredients that are harmful in the sun, other than to add fragrance? Jesus what a shame. It just goes to show, beauty companies don’t always know what they are doing.

I only worry because I have read that if the zinc oxide content is not 10-20% then there is not much UVA protection. In fact the ones with zinc oxide of around 5% are basically useless. Have you seen this information in your research? Very worried about this as I have been using sunscreens with 4-6% zinc oxide for a long time, and the FDA allows sunscreen manufacturers to declare on the label broad spectrum protection even if it is not! The public is allowed to be misled by sunscreen manufacturers because the rules and regs are very lax. The EWG is fighting against this and they have several articles discussing what the FDA is not doing on our behalf.

Elta MD 41 tinted is nice, I just got it and it substitutes for a foundation. Another good one for around 20 bucks is Mychelle Liquid sun block, SPF 50, which comes in tinted and non tinted. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any luck with cheaper mineral sunscreens from the drugstore. Even when they say matte or clear, it just ain’t true! I either look ghostly or wet and greasy all day. Better to spend a little more on a tinted version, and use it as a foundation. If you want to up the ante, use a chemical underneath...one that doesn’t burn or sting my skin and is very affordable is CeraveAM, you can get it at Walmart for around $12.

if you have sensitive skin like me the avene one didnt work for me :( it also makes my eyes burn for some reason, i have used the biore and la roche sunscreens which work beautifully for me so try tht if anything

Thank you for clarifying my thoughts :) My friend also recommended me to use the la roche sunscreen and since you said it works for you (you have sensitive skin) I might get it as well. For the la roche, do you use the tinted version? Heard that it doesn't give you a white cast and you can apply it over your makeup like your bb cream.

@@FutureSakuraStar99 hey gurl! I have light-medium skin tone and havent had issues with white cast with the tinted version at all, im assuming your talking about the anthelios versions of sunscreen. I have had some white cast issues with the white version, but i usually wear make up so its not an issue. I also have never had any issues with white cast or sensitivity with the Biore water spf because it blends clear lol hope this helps!

@@Lovin9Lives Update on the sunscreen topic: I bought the La Roche Posay Anthelos Tinted version SPF 50 and omg for once a sunscreen that didn't irritate or burn my skin! So glad I have come to this comment and you suggested this product for sensitive skin. Now I can wear sunscreen everyday when I go outside without the fear of UV rays hurting my skin :)

I really appreciate when people bring out these elaborate and very informative videos on sunscreen and especially on mineral sunscreen! Not nearly enough people are aware of all the different concerns of sunscreen or how and when to use it. Only thing the untinted Josie Maran moisturiser with SPF 47 isn't vegan because it has Cera Alba in it, which is beeswax. The tinted version is vegan though so I get where the confusing came from :)

Ahhh can't believe you posted this 2 days after I ordered a new sunscreen! I use the Josie Maran one in the winter but needed something less moisturizing for summer. I was in between Skinceuticals and Neostrata. I chose Neostrata spf 50 PA ++++ because it is supposed to be more matte, it feels great w/o make up, but I want to test its makeup elegance tomorrow. Your skin looks flawless btw, tks for sharing all this info!

I read somewhere that powder sunscreens aren't effective. They only give you 5% of UV protection vs a cream properly applied which was 90-100% protection.

My all time favourite sunscreen is Odylique Natural Sunscreen SPF30 (broad spectrum). Best for dry and sensitive (including eczema-prone). It's organic, no nanoparticles, no silicone, no artificial UV filters, preservatives, fragrance or colour. Texture is non-whitening, not pore-clogging and not greasy (like a moisturiser). It contains shea butter, chamomile, sea buckthorn, UV protective karanja and zinc. Would definitely recommend it as it does not irritate my eczema and does not contain alcohol. Perfect under makeup as well.

Nice review on mineral sunscreens. Sadly none of those except maybe LRP are sold in Australia as a listed sunscreen plus for the amount of sunscreen recommended to use it is often too costly with shipping to get sent here. Maybe overseas companies don't go through Aus sunscreen standard testing. Luckily we have good sunscreens here. The mineral sunscreen I use is by an Australian natural company called Moogoo. I believe they sell overseas. It is 24.9% Zinc but is thicker consistency, which natural companies tend to be than the milky consistency that have alcohol, mineral oil or silicones (I use sunscreens with those too) but it does rub in clear on me, just takes patience! Oh and your skin looks so good. Can tell you are knowledgeable about your skincare and what works for you.
