Anyone remember Heathkit? My uncle built a Heathkit am/fm/short wave reciever back in the 60s. I have it now and it still kicks it. Paired it up with some giant vintage Klipsch speakers and BOOM...I'm out in the country and the neighbors still call me and complain!

Man!!!Are you serious???? That amp and speakers are over the top! It has everything. Bass, treble, volume adjust!!! Holy sh**!!! 2 Channels too‼️‼️ This blows away my McIntosch. The speakers alone must have cost a dollar‼️ Someday...... dream on til then... Meantime I’m heading to my electronic disco room.

Wal-Mart has several mechless bluetooth car stereos right in this same price range. Basically all of the same functions plus Bluetooth. You do have to add an antenna of some sort but a sort length of wire works well in an urban environment.

I built a great home stereo out of old '80s car stereo parts for under $100. It has over 1000 watts total, and two 10" subwoofers. Back in the '80s I used to design and install car stereo systems. Those were the days of super high power systems. I was able to round up all the parts dirt cheap or free in about 6 months. Biggest problem is I have to keep it turned down so the neighbors don't complain. Even then the bass shakes the whole house (actually man cave. I share it with several motorcycles and a cat. I'm divorced and my kids are grown)

I used a car radio I got from a swap meet . For power I had an old 12 volt computer charger laying around and a used car antenna . I had to buy a antenna extension . All up it cost $16 .including a couple of used speakers , it pays CDs as well . A few of my friend have done the same. Give it a try.

Nice review. The power output spec is 2x20W rms at 1 KHz i.e. 40 watts so the power supply would need to be capable of around 50 watts . This would need a 12 volt psu to be capable of 4 amps. Some power supplies don't give out what they say so I would use a 6 amp supply. I would be surprised if the distortion level was low enough to listen at full power out and would expect to run it at a much reduced level.

binarybox Probably has a charge pump circuit that ups the internal voltage. Poweramp section is most likely class-D.
@binarybox.binarybox
@binarybox.binarybox 6 жыл бұрын
Pump circuits can increase the voltage but you can't get more power output than you are putting in. Agreed the amp is running in class D as most of the miniature amps do. I have bought quite a selection of these small amps priced at only a couple of £ recently and will use them to quickly test for audio out with PCs and other projects.

Great review! I've had one like this for a couple of years and can offer my tips and experiences with it if it may help someone. I bought one for this exact purpose, to install it in a roll-around tool box in my garage. I mounted a pair of 6.5" car speakers in the bottom of the cabinet and first tried a 2A PS (recommended by the seller) to see how it would work, but unfortunately the math says you can't get 40W from a 12v-2A source. I tried anyway and it became unpleasant to listen to at about 60% volume. Lots of clipping and sag, so I swapped in a 6A PS and now it' stays tight to 60-65% but that's about it. For the minimal circuitry and cost I wasn't expecting it to chip paint but using a larger PS did help. I doubt that the media player would hold up very long regardless of PS output, if ran above 60% for extended periods due to heat, but that's just a hunch. I set the vol.set between 20-50% where I leave it 8-12 hours at a time and have had no issues The only complaint I've found is with the remote. You need to be close when you use it. Since most radio stations in my area play crap I opted to load a flash drive with 3,170 MP3's for 232 hours of play time. I used a 64 gig flash drive formatted with FAT32. Flash drives larger than 32 gig must be formatted using FAT32 before they can be used because the media player won't play them it it isn't . NTFS is the default on drives larger than 32 gigs but the player handles the 64 gig FAT32 just fine. I haven't tried a larger drive.but any of them would likely work as long as they are formatted to FAT32. For anyone wanting to use a drive larger than 32 gigs with this player just Google "HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool,." Install it, find your drive, select quick format FAT32 and run it. Now you can load as many MP3's as it will hold. One more tip that may be of use: To get around the lack of AM and talk shows. I find the files I want as podcast files or archived at the station's web portal and then convert the to MP'3 format, YMMV depending on what you want. To convert just Google the open source tool "Audacity" for quick conversions. You can also edit out commercials with it if they bother you. Remember, this player is best suited where audiophile quality isn't needed but decent background music is. . Someone mentioned it didn't have BT. Search EBay and you'll find several that are almost identical but have BT built in. They were in the $20'ish range last time I looked. I hope something in here helps someone. I'll be jammin' mine again tomorrow.

@Slugg-O
@Slugg-O 6 жыл бұрын
The volts are correct but 750Ma is a tad weak. If it plays, the sound will get flabby pretty quick as you increase volume because it is starved for power (current) like watering your lawn with a straw instead of a hose. A 12v DC with an output of 2 amps or more would be best, but keep in mind these are not high-end amps and they start to distort at around 60% volume even with a large power supply. Search eBay for a 12 volt LED power supply. A 12v DC 4 to 6 amp supply can be had for under $10 delivered. Even with limitations these amps are great for a garage or small bedroom. Just don't expect it to deliver concert hall performance. Good luck.

Slugg0matic yeah we're going to hook it up in the garage and the garage is a 10ft by 10ft so hopefully it'll be like that. Thank you for telling me about the power supply. I'll look into that as soon as I get done typing this comment.
@Slugg-O

I don't fuss over sound quality when I'm in the garage because I'm usually working on something and just want constant music in the background with no commercials or breaks, and a loaded SD card or thumb drive takes care of that. My work room is similar to yours and this is more than enough so I think you'll enjoy it.

After posting that to you, I found a set of speakers and a power supply on amazon and was able to get free shipping after ordering both. I ordered mine off the internet and got the blue tooth version. We don't get FM radio reception here. I get online and stream all my collage basketball. I went to the store here and got a radio that was Bluetooth compatible but my phone seems to have a better speaker then it does. I will use the radio for the phone and podcast that I download. IS there a special type of memory card or USB that is needed?

I got one of these after viewing this review. It is awesome!! I hooked up a couple of old speakers that were on a boom box that I never use. Even with these cheapo speakers it sounds great. I'm going to hook it up to my Bose speakers to see what it sounds like with them. Only thing I noticed on mine was clicking the EQ button didn't seem to do anything. When I watched your review again I noticed that you seemed to press it a bit hard so I will try that. Even if the EQ doesn't work on mine, I am more than happy with the performance of this unit. I plan on buying more of them to give as gifts. Thanks for introducing me to this super cool amp!!

A followup on the Equalizer situation that I described in my last post...... I setup an SD card with a lot of songs that I like and put the card in the HY-3006 amplifier. The card works perfectly. Then I tried the EQ button on the remote with the SD card and that also works now, giving me different equalizer options to choose. I didn't have to press hard on the button either. :) Excellent!! Now my next step will be to hook up some better speakers and see what the unit sounds like with them.

They're ok for the money but if you want a little bass too don't count on it. Turning up the bass knob to about half will distort the crap outta the speakers already. Otherwise they're great for small shelf speakers and calm listening - not for high volume listening.

For 25 bucks, at any GoodWill store, or pawn shop... You can get a stereo system with decent speakers that would be proud to adorn your mancave. Life is too short to listen to cheap, crappy, screaching from a clock radio. 25 bucks will change your life, and probably lengthen it too.

Just to be silly: So I decided I was too poor and went with soup cans and some old string from a kite I had as a kid. The soup cans are pretty new, this year I think. I leave one can by the road and listen to the traffic sounds when I get bored. I hooked a Quasimulator Ejection Valve with 8 chan tuning to the buisness end to amplify the one can I listen to. My 'garage' is more of a space heater so it works out pretty good! Trollin along on highway 35.8, it's 4:35 a.m. and I am bored.

As a kid, back in the early '60's, my neighbor, Mr. Wizard and I used to make radios out of crystals and wire wrapped about a stick. The radio was tuned in by a razor blade and the things actually worked. Used to go with him to a tv repair place similar to Radio Shack and pick up the crystal for the radio. It was a step above the two Quaker oatmeal cans and a long piece of string. I have seen one or two WWII movies where the French underground built similar radios, For a kid experimenting with Mr. Wizard was like being invited into the home of Harry Potter or such. :-)

Umm... I use high end stereo equipment in my garage. This is your garage, man. Your cave, dude. What are you going to do while listening to a shrill, tin can sounding 20 watts? Change a turn-signal bulb? You need 100 watts per channel, minimum... with a subwoofer. Then, you can take on real projects, like mig-welding, machining metal, sand-blasting, and engine rebuilding. Tell your girl-scout troop you quit, man. Get yourself a sound system, and crank it up while you polish the chrome on your Harley.
@oscarburke5244
@oscarburke5244 6 жыл бұрын
well you are a fool then because your "cave" is just that a cave. My Garage is where I work on my vehicles ad the sounds of my high performance engines is what I am working on or other parts of them and the last thing I want to hear are my tools bouncing around in my tool box so that tiny sounding 20watts is plenty for a little background music and when I want some real sound I go in my den and crank up the real high end audio equipment I have and get into some real tunes. me and my "troop" all have the same type of set ups as do most real auto enthusiasts which you are obviously not so when you blow up that motor because you could only here that thump of your sub woofer and not that tick in your motor move the good stuff in the house and the tiny one in the garage so you can get some real work done the right way.

Don't Tread On Me. I have news for you. A couple of watts in most of the audio bandwidth will blow you out of the room. Do you REALLY want all the extra power just for over emphasized bass? Bass power isn't as important as you think. Live music doesn't sound the same as overpriced sub woofer systems. It's just a show off thing..

joe woodchuck You are right but it’s also inaccurate. You need a balance of tweeters, mid woofers, and low woofers to achieve the best sound quality especially for people who do crazy sound setups in cars where they modify the dash and place it in specifically calculated spots for the best sound quality. As for low wattage, that is very true because some drivers have different excursion than other as well as some require less wattage to achieve the same output as competitors.

Don't Tread On Me I'd have the subs powered separately. No need for it to drive that means that 60-200w it offers is plenty.

Dust Cloud he said its 20 watts not 60 to 200. So you could power I shitty speaker or 2 really shitty speakers. Will be all highs. Better to just use a cheap 250w per channel receiver. I see them all the time at yard sales for a few bucks

I'm sorry, you lost me on no AM radio. Although, I could see how all that gizmos and gadgets and their would wreak havoc on am reception anyway. Then again with all those gizmos and gadgets $17 isn't bad at all.

george george You're listening to the audio Through his mic Through KZbin compression Through your sound system Via your resolution choice Which by your statement is cheap? Problem starts with his mic and lossless recording being uploaded and compounds over and over. On it's own merits quality per $ is above and beyond it's price. Comparing it to your $300k sound system might be asking much by comparing this to the cost of a custom DAC is different. What do you know of better quality for $17?
