I just got this tool. It is a cool new tool. I use it for my dirt bike and adventure bikes. My friends use it as well. I am surprised how often I use it now given how easy it is to set the sag. I often adjust the suspension setting based on my adventure rides, if riding fully loaded or for a day ride.

I have the bluetooth version and it connects to an app on my phone. Works great! I measure the sag while riding slowly down my driveway, which is a flat concrete surface. That's been working for me. I check only the rear on my dirt bikes and the front and rear on my 2017 AfricaTwin with Ohlins suspension. I check sag once a year before a big trip. Thanks!

The wheel is actually getting farther off center in the spot you put it as it straightens the swing arm the wheel base gets longer use the normal spot to get the right measurement

The way the rear arm is angled down the arc will probably be closer to the vertical mark. It would have been interesting to see you check it at both places to show any difference. My guess is that no more than you are moving it that the difference will be close to zero.

Lol, that’s what I was gonna say, the axle will move back before it comes foward in the pendulum so the vertical position will be best

TY for the demo! Is it important to know the total suspension travel prior to setting the sag? (Dads 800DE claims 220mm total rear travel.) Working with the slacker in %, he determined even at 36% sag was a bit stiff when for hwy traveling between trail excursions.

For your next bike you should get a 2023 KTM 250 XCF

I have the older wired version and it works great. Way better than having to bug my wife to help me set the sag!

Ktm's 105mm recommendation is to the vertical marking. If you measure to 105mm on your imaginary arc then your sag won't be the same

The majority of the handling complaints that I hear others complaining about on their bikes are related to sag. It affects the front end even more than it affects the rear. Even putting a taller/shorter tire on the front or rear can cause the bike to require a shock sag or fork height adjustment….but the average rider will just blame the new poor handling characteristics on the new tire. 😂 FYI - if you can’t get the correct weighted and unweighted sag at the same time you need different weight springs for your body weight. This is especially important on PDS bikes.

That’s pretty expensive for something the average joe would use once maybe twice in 5 years

Imo, setting sag is overrated. Especially if you ride all day and want to sit for a while.

@@gpaull2 I have learned to set suspension for your liking, not to sag. We are not all riding in race position all day long.

@@Dat_Sun if you are not setting sag you are leaving a lot of suspension performance on the table. Just because you sit more than you should doesn’t change that it would benefit you to do it and have your suspension work correctly. You don’t just set sag standing

@@jamesoso259 My priority is endurance and comfort. I am much heavier at the beginning than the end of my rides. I set my suspension up how I like it, normally on the plush side with lots of travel up here. I definitely dont need tech to tell me how I should have my suspension set up. It's almost like, I know what I like or something 🤔. I encourage bike owners to play with the suspension settings themselves, thats the best way to take advantage of these modern suspension systems. You have to experience it for yourself to understand, otherwise you would never know good from bad, comfort from harshness or fast from slow. Riders will learn on there own what works best for them if given half a chance and the encouragement. You assumed I sit down to much, I invite you to my guest cabin near Kremmling Colorado, I can show you some amazing trails here in the Rockies that would likely result in running out of steam in a hurry and wanting to sit on the seat from time to time when possible.

I use the underneath of the rear fender as a suspension tool. If there’s no rear tire marks then I’m good 😏😂
