The My favourite also is the *Celestron SkyMaster Pro 20x80* on an *Alt-Az fluid head tripod.* They tick all the boxes.

I bought my new Celestron skymaster 20x80 and for the 1st time I saw the full moon shine..so big.. and Venus and Jupiter and Mars just like a glittering diamonds. I still don't know how to collimate but then viewing the universe every night fascinates me......

Thanks for making this video! Do you recommend investing into a smaller 7x50 instead or the larger x80s which need a tripod? I'm a newbie to astronomy so any advice is helpful :)

Are you completely against a tripod? If so, I'd probably get a 12x60 pair.... I did a review on my channel of Celestron's: kzbin.info/www/bejne/omirhYlpqt2ce5Isi=1lMCk89Uhlikx3Yr

@@astronomyscope Thanks for replying. I ended up buying the Cometron 7x50 to start out and test the waters of stargazing. If all goes well I'll upgrade to a bigger one in a few months. Do you possibly have a guide on what I could see with these binos in a Bortle 4 region?

Am really confused in buying sky master 20 x 80 and sky master Pro 20 x 80, as mentioned about the field view is less in the Pro version. And also the eye relief. My criteria is to have crisp view of the Saturn rings, other star clusters, nebula and the andromeda view to be of high quality. Have used the sky master 15 x 70 earlier. Your views?

Hello. If your budget allows for it, I would opt for the pro. They will likely hold collimation better and they will operate at full aperture much better due to the superior coatings.

Hi what do you think about the Celestron Skymaster 15x70? Not the pro version? Are they good to start? Thank you

why not, I just bought my first cheap binoculars, 12x50 Praktica and the crescent moon looked fantastic. Yours will be much better.

Hi Emanuel. Yes, they are a good start. Personally, I opted for the 25x70s, but either are good starting binoculars, for sure.

Yes, the Celestron SkyMaster Pro 20x80 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) is the best optics.

I have both the 15x70 and 20x80 and in my opinion there isn't a huge difference between these two if star gazing. The 15x70 is more lightweight and comfortable to use.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree. The 15x70 are much more practical in that respect.

Would these be a significant jump up in magnification from my 15 x 56 Binoculars.
@astronomyscope
@astronomyscope 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Iain. 1/3 more magnification from what you currently have. I would say that's quite a big increase. Plus you are getting all the added benefit of the increased objective lens diameter too!

@@astronomyscope the problem is I have the Swarovski slc 15x56 and am probably spoiled by the quality optics, if I purchased the 20x80 pro would I be disappointed with the opics, or should I spend a little more like amp 20x80, thanks.
@simonrass2961

@@marleymac370 did you invest? I think the Swarovski Glasses and coatings are so superb that there might be quite a lot more light passing through. I was suprised comparing my Zeiss with relatively chaep 100-200€ Binos of comparable dimensions how bricht the Zeiss Victory was… But a 15x56 is a differenz Animal than a 20x80. The former can be used handheld for Short times, the latter is strictly Limited to tripod use… Would you use the bin Glass for daytime, to? There the difference is bigger than for the nightskies…

@@marleymac370 i am considering the Zeiss Conquest HD 15x56 by now as they are not as expensive as the slc but optically more than decent. Good to hear that the we can be uses handheld, so my planned Zeiss would even be more usful

There are a really visual difference between 20x80 skymaster & skymaster PRO?
@zetacrucis681
@zetacrucis681 Жыл бұрын
Yep. Better contrast, darker sky background on the pro because of the better coatings. Haven't tried Celestron branded ones, but similar 15x70s and 20x80s both MC & FMC models. You typically also get bigger prisms (larger effective clear aperture) and better internal baffling (controlling stray light) in the more expensive models, so brighter, crisper, higher contrast image. The difference is very noticeable. Worth the upgrade if you can afford it.

Great question. Depends how you want to observe. 15x70s if you want to see more of the sky at one (they have a wider FOV). 20x80 if you'd rather venture in...

Please change your pronunciation of the word, 'collimation.' It isn't 'col-imination.' It is just 'collie' followed by 'mation'. Aside from that nitpicking, thanks for your video and assessment. I found it useful.
