Back in the 90s I did a three-day kayaking trip, one day on Milford Sound and two days on Doubtful Sound camping overnight on Hall Arm, an amazing experience.

We didn't get bitten but we were pretty well covered most of the time during the day. The interesting thing was the skipper said we could leave our cabin door open during the night so we could take in the fresh sea air, apparently the bugs on the sea all go to bed at Dusk, he was correct, no bites during the night😀 cheers...Andy&Michelle
