How about a video on how to locate open water muskie?

I think that will be one of my next videos. Haven’t had the time to fish lately so that gives me a way to make a new vid!

@@benstonefishing I'll look forward to seeing it. Seems to me to be a logical companion video to this one about the lures to use.

Ha! I'm one of the minority percentage of people who subscribe to this channel. If you're a musky fisherman you should be subscribed, you scrubs. Get with it. Also, Ben, you need to make a video about when you fish at different depths with these lures. Talk about what depths you fish them at and why. Be specific, too.

Great video, Ben! My best open water lure has been bucktails so far. I just started throwing Medussas this year and really like them. You are right about the "hang time," I hadn't thought about that. Love the tips, thanks! Would love all kinds of tips videos like this one.

I'm on the hunt for my first musky. I'll be fishing in central Illinois in early September. Any tips for a newbie? I picked up a few baits, but opted for smaller size lures. I'm not looking for a 50 incher haha. I'm a small person, so trying to use lighter lures. I picked up a Micro Medussa and a Mini Boilermaker #8, along with spinnerbait, crankbait, and a big swimbait. oh... and a whopper plopper 190. Love your content and subbed. Thanks.

Thank you! I would say just pound weeds with blades and cover water till you start to find them!! That’s about all I did when I started, fastest way to start learning what they are doing.

@@benstonefishing Thanks Ben. I can def. pound the weeds where I'll be fishing.

Would you be confident at this time during Minnesota's season to still target open water fish? If so, for how much longer? Do you think this strategy would work on any cisco forage base lake albeit natural or stocked fish?

On some lakes yeah, I find bait yet round in open water so I always try it. But seems majority of fish are back on structure by mid/ late July!

@@benstonefishing there are a ton of fly fishing guys making them now. I also make them with action disk leading the head for trolling.
