This content is awesome! I’ve been looking for videos of individual laptops for a year now just to know which one fits me most as an architecture student who can’t afford a laptop. I’ve been hungry to have one since I started architecture school and this content really helps us students who does 3D models find the right one! For someone like me who don’t have the budget but want the best bang for buck is really a hard decision of practicality. Aside from that I hope I can participate in the giveaway of Legion 5 laptops which is the best one so far as for quality & price, and put the budget for the laptop to courses that teaches 3D softwares so I can maximize it in school! I hope I can be one of the lucky winners! Big thanks to Ben for very helpful contents for specific uses of laptops! Looking forward for my first laptop in the future!

I watched your video and it was very helpful! I quickly fell in love with the ASUS ROG Flow X16. Im an architecture student and will be running programs like AutoCad, Lumion, etc. I was wondering what your thoughts are on the 2022 vs 2023 models. There is about a $700 price difference, and I don’t know enough about laptops like these to know what my best option is. Thanks so much.

On Mac really depends which programs are you using. I stick with a Macbook Pro for 13 years and I don't think I would change it for a PC. All the programs I need are native to Mac. I am using Adobe, Autocad, and Sketchup. I had periods of time when I used a PC at the office and a Mac for side projects. I always feel at ease when I am using a Mac. The simple maintenance is just incredible.

Hey Ben, love your videos - just some inputs on laptops for architecture as a student in the field; While AMD mobile gpus might be great for 3D workloads like Maya, they are pretty much incompatible with architectural industry-standard rendering softwares like Vray, Enscape and the like (as stated on their websites). I would really warn against recommending AMD graphics for specifically architecture students/practitioners, and that they should stick to Nvidia GPUs. I went through some headaches after getting my Legion 7 slim AE edition, and had to return it because of compatibility. On the other hand, AMD CPUs are amazing for students looking for portable workstations; I'm really happy with my current Legion 5 Pro, and your videos really helped with the decision.

Second this, rendering architectural model using d5 render is far way better (and with less hassle) on rtx compared to radeon counterpart, although they usually provide more vrams (6gb vs 8gb). Thats why im hesitating buying amd advantage edition laptops (g14 2022 for example)

@@saby_w 3dmax usually favor intel if you render it by the app but if you use corona to render it amd might be better. Im not too sure about the single core performance on amd side tho because 90% the things you do is modelling and the rest 10% is rendering

I know that SolidWorks can have some visual bugs with non-validated cards, but I find it hard to justify the price premium. I've used it for years with "gaming cards" and it runs absolutely fine. It's not like Solidworks is particularly demanding anyway since other programs are better for rendering and can make use of the faster "gaming-orientated" cards. The program could literally run on a potato

I am searching for a Fusion 360 engine, that could handle as a data server for small Lab. I use a 27 in monitor but like a big screen on the laptop for viewing parts sources and component specs. Thinking 17 inch. I don't do games or solid modeling, but I will have 3 or 4 detailed Fusion Models open at one. I can not find a solid machine in my price range $1,250. I have a nice ASUS 2 in 1 for daily web work. And would be have with a bigger brother. But i get lost in the need for Graphics versus Speed and Memory. What would do the job?

"3D modeling" is way too general a term. What kind of 3d modeling? Mesh modeling? Hi res mesh modeling in Zbrush with 100 million + quads and hundreds of subtools? Nurbs modeling in Rhino? Solid modeling in Solidworks with 'simple' shapes? Some of the above are not affected by card or VRam. Some are. These reviews are fairly useless in the context of helping someone pick a laptop or hardware for their chosen modeling method. But thank you for your efforts all the same.
