Thanks Matt! I have Topaz but a 2 year old version so I’m going to get the updated version!

Excellent. I never tried using that File -> Plug-in Extras method. Appreciate this. Cheers

Using your preferred method, and the method recommended by Topaz, I’ve run into graphics card issues on AI functions. I have a 6GB Nvidia 1660 Ti card and it isn’t enough. No problems with the other method. Topaz CS is aware of the issue on 3.3.2.

Thanks Matt for sharing your workflow on plugins. It was very helpful. Maybe a future video on setting up LRC preferences?

Thanks for making this video Matt. Like you, I had to (well, I didn't actually have to) change my workflow to suit my need for better sharpening than Adobe could provide in Lr, LrC, and RAW. I use Lr Desktop and thankfully you showed here how best to use Topaz Photo AI as a stand alone. I wasn't sure how to get to TPAI from Lr until you showed it here. Thanks again. (I used your link to renew my Topaz Photo AI subscription but I'm not sure if it helped you as you mentioned, I hope it did.)

I kind of wish that ADobe would make it possible for Lightroom (both Desktop and Classic) to be able to send a RAW file to the plug-in without having to do the round-about way you showed (opening Explorer/Finder and then opening the app/Plug-in manually). Most plug-ins have the means to handle RAW files they cannot open (ie. display an error message, and then the user can go back and configure LR to send a TIF copy instead), but they should at lest give the user the option in the settings to send the original RAW file or one of the other common formats). Obivously I know that you cannot likely send the adjustments you've made in LR to plug-ins (as most cannot read XMP files) but at least this would save us a step and can be done right from LIghtroom.

I used this method of opening images into Topaz Photo AI (File > Plug-in Extras. It worked great on some very, very noisy images that were shot indoors in bad light. What I didn't realize was that for every image that I edited this way, a sidecar file was created. I don't really want to save files this way. I prefer that the editing be included inside my image with no sidecar. Is there a way around this? Is this because the file has become a dng file?

I don't see Photoshop in the list of Plug In extras. How do you add it?
@MattKloskowskiАй бұрын
Hi. You can’t add it

Not all adjustments made in LRC are recognised by Photo AI, for example level and crop.

The problem I've run into is being unable to open Sony compressed raw files. The Topaz popup says Med and Small compressed raw files are not supported (but for me Large won't open either) and to convert to DNG.
@MattKloskowskiАй бұрын
Definitely don’t want to shoot compressed. You’ll have trouble in every app with those

@ Definitely don’t want to shoot compressed? Hmmm….so I’m thinking back to your pod where you talked about unnecessary file sizes. Seems like there is a disconnect here

Hi Matt, thanks for sharing. I’m a little undecided about Topaz too. Do you know if it can be used over multiple devices, laptop & desktop or is it a one key one device option. I couldn’t see anything on their website Thanks - Andy Will use your link if I decide to buy

Hi. I googled "how many devices can I use topaz photo ai on" and this is what came back. Hope that helps: www.google.com/search?q=how+many+devices+can+i+use+topaz+photo+ai+on&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS980US980&oq=how+many+devices+can+i+use+topaz+photo+ai+on&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRirAjIHCAYQIRirAjIHCAcQIRirAjIHCAgQIRifBTIHCAkQIRifBdIBCDY3MjJqMGo3qAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Thanks, Im still on the fence about Topaz. Do you know how much longer the sale runs for? Also, I’ve always used plug-ins thru PS as opposed to LR. Is there a quality difference working on a tiff/psd vs DNG? Thanks! I’m gonna bookmark this video & of course go thru you if I decide to buy.
@MattKloskowskiАй бұрын
Hi. I believe there is a timer at the top of their site. I'm sure it runs through the black friday weekend. As for TIFF vs DNG it depends on what you're doing which is what I suggested in this video. Thanks.

Nice vidéo. Isn't it better to first adjust wb and exposure in raw and crop, exporting to tif and apply denoise with topaz ai? I am choked to send a poor exposure and big image ( a duck in a large pond) in denoise ( pure raw, topaz ai...). Moreover it takes size and Time to go to plugin, come back and notice you cannot improvisé exposure... and photo should be discarded

You still Havnt covered the issue of not mirroring the Adobe Cloud to your PC ie I only store pics in Adobe Cloud, so “Right click & show in folder” doesn’t work for me.
@MattKloskowski23 күн бұрын
Then you'll have to use the File > Edit In method or go back to your raw file in Local mode.
